When you are in the middle of a manuscript and you keep getting the temptation to read it from the beginning, it is the hardest moment to resist all temptations and proceed forward. Or else, the first draft would never be complete.
I also feel that the hardest thing about writing is harboring self-discipline. Since no one is there to compel you to write, you have to make your own routine and do the daily writing without getting distracted.

A budding writer must read a lot and write a lot. At least every day, a budding writer should devote about thirty minutes to writing even if it is writing a diary. It would be better if he starts blogging as that would further boost his confidence. And lastly, he should not give up. Writing a book demands a lot of focus, patience and perseverance. So, it is important to have faith in oneself.

Well for me, every single day is an opportunity to improve myself, to learn from my surroundings and to hone my writing skills.
However, I feel that at the point I started writing, I was a total amateur. I was unaware of plenty of things and it was almost like writing a journal without any technical or formal knowledge.
From that stage to the present day, I feel privileged to learn the several nuances of creative writing. So, I think I have learned and improved quite a bit in the last few years and I look forward to further polish my craft with every passing day. I am work in progress.

First of all, writing is such an integral part of my life that I can't think of spending a week or more without writing.

The approach towards writing should be honest and writing should be done with a pure mind without thinking about fame or money.
An interesting plot, realistic characters (except in case of fantasy fiction) and smooth flow of words makes good writing. If good vocabulary is used, the writing turns great.

Religious texts like "The Bhagwad Gita" and "The Upanishads" teaches us the actual meaning of life.
They definitely stir my imagination.
The first thing that I learned from these religious texts is that I am a soul, not a body. At first, I felt this truth to be weird but as I contemplated on it, I realized the depth of it.

The best thing about being a writer is the capability to touch hearts of many people through the power of words. When an absolute stranger reads my book and tells me how he/she was moved by my book, I feel that my life is worthwhile.
The next good thing about being a writer is that you don't fear solitude, instead you love it. You have so many characters in your head that you seldom feel lonely. The characters you create become your friends on the journey of writing.
