I struggle with writing all the time. Making time to write. Finding the right words. Keeping all the details straight. How much should I tell, and how much should I leave to be read between the lines? I am at the end of my life. Writing is the only reason for me to continue on.

R, you inspire and help other writers in your review groups too, and now I see you're a fan of Bester, I can't wait to pick up the Negative's Tale.

It varies quite a bit. Ideas can start to form at any time. If I am away from my computer or pencil and paper, there is a physical division between thought and recording it. If the idea needs refining, a conceptual distance exists that must be bridged. One idea originated in a nightmare I had decades ago. I am still refining it into a complete story in my mind.

One of the reviews of "The Negative's Tale" ended with a request for a sequel. I had thought of writing more stories involving characters from "The Negative's Tale", but none that I would consider a sequel. While thinking about this request, the central theme for a real sequel occurred to me. It is called the "Tourist of Infinity". Allon Wu, Mitchell Ebberhaus, Lovey Wu, Jan Lindermann, and Jama Elfbrae are all back and embroiled in another space-based mystery. I have been working on it for about a year, and the first draft is almost done. Then it is on to rewriting.

I get my ideas from a variety of sources. I often think of "what if" questions based on the fiction and non-fiction I read. These lead to ideas that I incorporate into my writing. The speculative science in "The Negative's Tale" is all based on current knowledge and theory.
