Janet Gogerty It was a dream that had stayed with her since early childhood, a nightmare; now her fifty year old self recognised the door immediately. In the dream she woke up seconds after opening the door to reveal her mother's doppleganger, the tender loving eyes subtly changed to reveal a malevolent soul beyond a child's understanding; now she opened the real door and what she saw was far worse than the dream.
Janet Gogerty I was nearly going to say the world of Jane Austen, but I wouldn't want to be stuck indoors embroidering and I'd probably be left on the shelf. Back to the world of my childhood pony books? No, I probably wouldn't like the stuck up privileged children. So it's going down the river with Jerome K Jerome 'Three Men in a Boat' written in 1889; carefree, traffic free, innocent days spent on the River Thames.
Janet Gogerty No, incorrect, I love writing both and always have both on the go at the same time, though I have not published a novel for over two years. The novel I am working on at the moment will be different from my previous books, as the main character is an unusual private detective who works from a camper van and each case could be a short story in itself.
Janet Gogerty I looked at my Kindle to see what is at the top of my list, mostly Indie Authors, some I have already read, others whose books are new to me. At present I am really enjoying Flashback and Purple by Sue Hampton. Just a matter of choosing what's next. I usually aim for a different country and time period from what I've just read.
Wake-Robin Ridge book 3 - Marcia Meara
Pattern of Shadows - Judith Barrow
Back to the Old House - Guy A Johnson
Sanctuary - Maureen Turner
My Magical Palace - Kunal Mukherjee
I am sure you will guess from my list and especially from my book reviews that I enjoy all sorts of books.

Janet Gogerty You have set me thinking. I tend to think of genres in terms of novels. Dark and Milk is a varied mix and some stories are obviously just for fun, but others go deep and dark such as Castaway and Guardian Angel. Fog is one of my favourites, inspired by our previous house and world history and green issues. But no, I don't think it matters; as long as stories entertain or make you think. I hope you enjoy reading them.
Janet Gogerty An in-law disappeared for a couple of decades, but was found when the internet caught up with him. We arranged to meet on neutral territory in front of the Royal Festival Hall, South Bank, London, on a Saturday morning; a place thronging with people, but anonymous. I spotted him in seconds, we were observing him from the terrace and he was leaning on the railing by the river. But if he had suddenly changed his mind and ran could we have caught up with him? In reality we all had a cup of tea, but a chase and search could have taken us up on the bridges, on the Millenium Wheel... I have used that part of London for mystery meetings in novels and short stories.
