Lisa Maxwell It’s slated for fall 2022. And I’m more than halfway done writing it, so it won’t be pushed back like TSC was :)
And thank you so much for reading!
Lisa Maxwell I don’t know what TW is. I assume you’re referring to the Satan’s Circus place on the map? That is literally a historical name for a part of nyc at that time. It’s a real thing, like a lot of things in the book. I mean, it’s a book for teens. It’s age appropriate for them. No matter their religion.
Lisa Maxwell I don’t have any specific plans for that, but I wouldn’t be opposed to it! A lot depends on sales and what my publisher wants from me.
Lisa Maxwell I had the idea for a thief who could see in bullet time YEARS ago...and it took me a long time to figure out her story. But then I watched Newsies with my kids and, voila! The beginnings of TLM was born :)
Lisa Maxwell Definitely in 2020--book 3 is going to be every bit as long and complex as TDT was, so it's taking me a while to get it right. I'm still drafting it now and discussing dates with my publisher, because it's REALLY important to me that the book lives up to my readers' expectations! <3

Lisa Maxwell I know the feeling O_O
I had the whole series plotted out, and it seemed like I could do it in two, but then once I actually got started writing...the second book had a LOT in it. To make it a duology, I would have had to MAJORLY cut back on the secondary characters, and I (and my publisher) thought they were too important to the story to jettison...so three books.
Sorry about your anxiety...but I'll be sure to write as fast as I can!! <3 <3
Lisa Maxwell Hi! Thanks so much for reading!! I'm so glad you loved the book :D
Right now, I don't have any plans on writing a sequel (and my publisher hasn't asked for one). But I always say, never say never.
If you liked UNHOOKED, you should definitely check out THE LAST MAGICIAN...that one IS part of a longer series, if you like stories that continue one.
Lisa Maxwell It used to be that I'd get one small idea--a character or an image or a question--and then I'd build a story around it.

These days? It's not so much inspiration but desperation :D When you're under contract, you have to come up with things and push through writer's block to get the work done.
Lisa Maxwell I believe it's just going to be called The Last Magician Series (super inventive, I know) ;)

Lisa Maxwell A couple of reasons: 1) they have to keep the heist the same (not sure if you're at the end of the book yet...) because if she changes it and stops the heist, who knows what that might do to whatever comes after 2) she can't hold onto time indefinitely, so getting in isn't possible without a team to help her figure out how. :D
Lisa Maxwell Yes! :D
I'm writing one right now!
