Daren Martin Narnia from the Chronicles of Narnia. I would want to explore and meet all the key characters while avoiding being killed. This series, as well as Lord of the Rings, had a profound impact on my imagination growing up and it would be fun to go there since I have already been at some level.
Daren Martin Beached Whale came from my year and a half experience consulting with a very large company and seeing the absolute gridlock that entangled them. The Sink is based on a very cool experience of my business partner and co-author Walter Nusbaum which left us both asking, "Why not leave things better than we found them.?"
Daren Martin My biggest inspirations are real life encounters and real life stories that other people tell me. When I experience great customer service or horrible customer service my first thought is, that is going in a book.
Daren Martin I have so many books in cue it is ridiculous. My next two are most likely BizBuzzBang and think/WOW. They may get preempted by a book on Millennials because I am so tired of all the Millennial hating. I also have a poetry book and short story book to publish but since those are outside my brand they will likely be published under a pseudonym.
Daren Martin Write! And then write some more. That may sound trite but it is true. The best way to develop your skills is to write often. Also, I believe great writers are also readers. Readers of a wide range of styles and genres. You can learn a lot by reading other writers and paying attention to their style.
Daren Martin Seeing your ideas in print and hearing from readers about how it changed them in a positive way. There is no better reward than that for a writer - in my mind anyway. I am out to Evolutionize the way we think about and do work and I can't think of any better way than writing books and speaking.
Daren Martin I am not writing on a deadline so I don't really have to deal with writer's block. I write when I am inspired and don't when I'm not.
