Kris Calvert I read an article one day written by an adult who grew up in the foster system. I wanted to create a heroine who came from a childhood of foster care. Her experiences growing up weren't good, but she uses the life skills she's learned–survival–to become the American hero is now is. That is Jane Doe.
Kris Calvert Started writing when I was a kid and never stopped. I think when you're a storyteller you know it from an early age. When I took journalism classes in college a retired CBS news correspondent read one of my articles. He took me aside and told me, "Never stop writing." I haven't.
Kris Calvert I just completed a new three book series, The Jane Doe Books, that release together and on the same day. Now I'm back to a new Sex and Lies book.
Kris Calvert Write every day, no matter what. And don't listen to anyone who says to you, "You can't do it that way" or "That will never sell." Write the book of your heart.
Kris Calvert Working in my pajamas.
Kris Calvert I don't really believe in writer's block. You have to keep writing through whatever it is you are struggling with. For me at least, writing something--anything--leads me back to where I need to be in the story.
Kris Calvert There will be more Mac and Sam books. The next book in the series, Sex, LIes & Diamonds is a Polly and Leo book. It releases January 18, 2018
