Steven Foote I am currently working on writing a series of blog posts about web development. They may one day become a book.
Steven Foote I wrote my book from 5:00 AM to 7:00 AM while my kids were still sleeping, and while riding the train to work. I would often listen to Miracle Mile by Cold War Kids to help me feel motivated to write.
Steven Foote My most recent book, Learning to Program, happens to be the only book I have written. The idea for the book came from my experience trying to teach myself to program over the past 7 years. I started programming much later in life than many of my colleagues, and I struggled with almost every concept. Programming was like nothing I had ever done before, and I didn't know where to turn for help. All of the books and blogs I was reading assumed that I already knew a lot about programming and computers. When reading other books and blogs, I didn't know what was crucially important and what was insignificant.

I wanted a book that would teach me what to learn first, what to learn next, and how to think like a programmer. I never found that book, and so I wrote it.
