Hi I'm one of your Christchurch-based fans, and your books are amazing - thank you for bringing them into the world. All of your books are actually brilliant, and I've read all of them. My question is for your book The Rift. Is there ever going to be a sequel of any kind? It's left very open, with so many possibilities for a sequel! I simply cannot believe that is going to be a standalone book. Thanks :)

Initially, I was intending to write a sequel to The Rift but I ended up writing something else and didn't return to that world. Currently, I am working on a new series, so I am not sure if I will get back to The Rift. So sorry to disappoint.

I am only 12 but I am an absolutely MASSIVE fan of your books. Spark was the best book I'd ever read and I just recently read Stray, and not THAT is my favourite book as well! You are a true genius. Just a question: I have already ordered Shield from the library, but is there going to be another book in this series? I haven't read Shield yet so I don't know if this ends the series ends but just wanted to know. Thanks.

Rachael Craw Hi there, Moo! That's an awfully cute name. I am completely delighted to hear that you love Spark and Stray and I'm so excited for you to read Shield! I am currently working on a new standalone novel called The Rift, which is scheduled for release in November this year. The Rift is not part of the Spark series but there is a who new world of characters and adventures to discover. I have not ruled out writing another book set in the world of Spark. Currently there is nothing in the works but maybe sometime in the future. Be sure to subscribe to my newsletter via my website to keep up to speed with book news. If you would like to read some short stories that are set in the world of Spark you can find them on my website also. They are free to download to e-readers or e-reading apps. Thank you Rachael for this amazing series!=) I've never had more mixed feelings about the book.. I wanted it to end, I did not want it to end.. I cried A LOT in the end of Shield, but the phrase "This is not the end" gives me hope that maybe, someday, we'll meet Evie, Jamie and others again=) Am I right, Rachael?=) So, once again - Thank you Rachael for sharing this world with us=)

Rachael Craw Hi there, Nataly. I'm so delighted to hear that you enjoyed the series! I cried a lot while writing it, too. That last line is very important to me, I wrote it because I wanted the reader to have hope for a positive outcome, that there was something for Evie to look forward to. In terms of another book in the series, I have no current plans but maybe one day! In the meantime I am working on a new story unrelated to the Spark series and there will be details about it coming soon.

A follow up questions from Hoody: How many hours a day do you write? What was the hardest scene to write at of all of your books and lastly, what is your favourite under appreciated novel? I love your work and can't wait to read more from you!!

Rachael Craw It depends on how close I am to a deadline. When I'm not under pressure I probably write 2-3 hours a day. When I am racing towards deadline it grows to 8 to 12 to 15 hours. And thanks for your lovely kind words. I am working on a new book at the moment, I can't wait for you to read it! <3 Xxx

Hi! I absolutely love the spark series and have read all three books and loved each one even more as the series went along. It has easily shot into my favourite list :) I would to write books myself one day and was wondering, have you ever gotten writers block? And if you have, what did u do to fix it?

Rachael Craw Hiya Hoody! :-D I'm so thrilled to hear you have loved the books. HOORAH! I don't think I have had proper writers block. I have definitely been horribly stuck, times where I haven't been able to solve a problem in my story and I've had to bang my head on my laptop for a couple of weeks trying to fight my way towards the answer. Most sensible people suggest putting the work aside when you get stuck like that so you can come back to it with fresh eyes. I struggle to do this. I can't seem to leave things alone.

Hi. I loved your books. In spark are the characters named after anyone in particular?

Rachael Craw Hi Fi, so pleased you have been enjoying the series! I stole the name Evangeline from my baby girl. Miriam is named after two of my favourite people who share that name. The others, I made up :-D

Hi! I just wanted to know if this series will be available in the U.S in the near future?

Rachael Craw Hiya, Tsubasa: Sorry, I don't know if or when it will be available in the U.S. It requires a U.S. publisher to buy the rights. Fingers crossed there will be some action this year. However, if you're dead keen you can always buy it through an NZ or AU bookstore and have them freight it to you. Dymocks is great! Who is your favorite fictional couple, and why?

Rachael Craw Ooooooh, such a tough question! Hmmm, I might have to go old school and pick Anne Shirley and Gilbert Blythe! *swoon* I love that you get to journey with them as they grow up from adversaries to falling in love. Plus, Gilbert doesn't attempt to stifle Anne's ambitions and recognises she is his equal. What about you? Who is your fav?

Rachael Craw Hi Jenny: I like Evamie as a mix of Everton and Jamie, pronounced ev-ah-mee. Some people like Javie, pronounced jay-vee, which I also like but I think the protagonist should come first in the ship. ;-) Thanks for stopping by! Appreciate the support. <3 <3 <3 Xxx

Rachael Craw Hello, Hannah :-D Wonderful to hear that you are writing. It's such a fascinating process filled with joy and frustration. My biggest piece of advice would be: don't give up! Find ways of developing your craft by: reading a lot - especially books in the genre/category that you love. Read the best of these books and let them inspire you. Read books on writing. When you feel like your story needs help to develop further find trustworthy feedback - people whose opinion's you respect. If you are willing to invest in the process financially I highly recommend having a manuscript assessment. The assessor will point out the strengths and weaknesses of your work and make suggestions for how you can improve it. All the best with pursuing your passion!

I actually forgot that your new book has come out, and when I did just remember I nearly fell out of my chair!!!!! It's the 12th of september here and I am so EXCITED TO READ YOUR THIRD BOOK!!! Rachael Craw Guy, you gorgeous unicorn. I promise there will giveaways coming up. The other thing you could do is check with your local bookstore and ask if they received a promo poster and if you could put your name down to claim it when they have finished with it in store. A couple of questions that have come to me from Instagram and other places, this one from Chloe_123: is Ethan a twin? Cause everyone else is and I was wondering if he was too.

Rachael Craw Hi Chloe: this is a great question. While there are many twins in the AP it's not a prerequisite to carrying the gene. Ethan is an only child. :-D
