But why do you want to write? Really?
David Anthony Sam Short answer: Just sit down and write something, every day preferably, and don't worry how bad it seems. I try to draft new poems early in the morning or late at night, when the subconscious is near the surface.

But I gain matter for poems from reading, from watching great television like the old and the new "Cosmos" series, from daily life, from simple observations of nature and city life, and from imagining myself as another person.
David Anthony Sam These poems were written over a four-decade period, from the middle 1970s through 2013. They arose from my seeking to better understand where I came from---the influence of nature, of landscape, of place, of geography. I hope they reveal a lifelong conversation with the natural world.
