Hi! Thank you for reading all the way through the author's note. I think it adds another layer to the reading if you read that part and see how everything in the novel is connected to Emily Dickinson. I have an essay that will be part of an anthology that comes out next fall, and I am currently working on another novel, but no details on that one yet! Thanks for asking!

(view spoiler)[Hi again. Emily hides her relationship with Kevin from her friends for some of the time and from her family (dad especially) all of the time. But, really, she's hiding her depression. She can't even identify it as such for much of the time, but it is her secret. No one really knows how horrible she feels and how deeply its affecting her. When I was depressed, I fought it silently for about a year before telling anyone. Sometimes nothing major needs to happen, either. I purposely didn't have something "happen" to Emily from the outside to trigger her depression. Her depression is more organic. I wrote about this more in depth here: http://latinosinkidlit.com/2015/02/02... (hide spoiler)]

Hi. How far into the book are you? I don't want to spoil anything for you.

Hi, Aylen! Thanks. I love the cover, too. I love the contrast of dark and light and the in focus and out of focus areas. It's symbolic of what's going on with the characters. I hope you like it when it comes out!
