Rochelle French Inspiration for stories tends to come to me when I'm just about to fall asleep. I'll see a situation in my head--maybe an adorable Meet Cute between two people who've popped into my head--and I'll run with it, letting the story come to fruition in my dreams. I know a story is one I want to tell when I still remember it in the morning.
Rochelle French Writing for me is my profession, so even if I feel that my creativity is down for a day, I'll find something that brings me happiness--watercolor painting, going for a hike in the woods, or sometimes I go down to the river and bring a notepad and sketchbook. Usually my writer's block is caused by some sort of emotional difficulty I'm experiencing, and by immersing myself in what brings positivity to my life, I find I'm rejuvenated.
Rochelle French The best thing about being a writer is knowing that my stories, these places, people, and situations that I create in my head, can bring people such happiness.
Rochelle French Hi Jennifer,
So sorry to hear you got one of the bad copies! Drat. Yes, there was an odd glitch in the Kindle version that existed for a couple of days when an update was uploaded to Amazon--a number of people downloaded the glitchy version before a correction was made. If you'd like to update your copy, you may do so under Amazon's Manage Your Content and Devices. Again, sorry you experienced this--what a bummer!
Rochelle French My advice for aspiring writers is to train! That means not only write, write, write, but study, study, study, too! Read everything you can about how to write. I've been both a writer and an editor, and as an editor I would notice how many times I'd see a great "voice" come across my desk, but flaws in story structure, character development, or even technical errors would preclude me from pursuing consideration of that work. Writing for publication is a combination of creativity and skill, and there are so many wonderful and invaluable resources on the web and available in bookstores.
Rochelle French I'm currently working on a book about a young woman who realizes her new boss is the very man with whom she'd experienced a rather disastrous and humor-filled one-night stand the week before. He's an art photographer and she's an artist's model--I got the idea of art photography after reading a magazine article about a fantastic photography artist who used antique cameras, and I absolutely fell in love with the artist's photographs. The concept that the hero could "see" the truth of how beautiful and passionate and strong the heroine truely was through the lens of his camera fascinated me.
