G. Elizabeth Kretchmer The best thing about being a writer is freedom of expression. But sometimes that's the hardest thing about being a writer, too~
G. Elizabeth Kretchmer My most recent published book, Women on the Brink, is a collection of stories about circumstances loosely drawn from situations that women I know, or know of, have encountered. Also, most women I know have at least dreamed of running away now and then. The characters in these stories don't necessarily run away, but they must consider their options when facing difficult circumstances and either find peace with their current state of being or discover new paths toward happiness.
G. Elizabeth Kretchmer I'm most inspired to write when I've been out in nature and/or spent time in solitude.
G. Elizabeth Kretchmer I'm shopping for agents for my next novel and working on a nonfiction book about wellness writing, inspired by the wellness writing workshops I've taught for many years.
G. Elizabeth Kretchmer Withhold judgment on your first draft. Don't even expect to know what you're writing about on that first draft. That's what revision is for.
G. Elizabeth Kretchmer Who were the men who abducted me when I was 17?
G. Elizabeth Kretchmer I've been fortunate to avoid this dreaded writer's affliction, and the reason is this: I do a lot of processing in my head before I sit down to write. Walking is a great activity for getting the creative juices going, and having a dog forces me to walk even when I otherwise don't want to. So I guess one solution to writer's block is to get a dog!
