Andrew Simonet Hello hello. The sequel was turned down by the publisher. I can send you a link to the draft if you are interested. It definitely shows how Meili sees things and the rest of Jason's journey. (Like Wilder, it has some mature content.)
Andrew Simonet Hi Sadie, I did work on a Wilder sequel for a year. Currently, my publisher is not interested in putting it out, but that could change. Here's something from the sequel: a letter from Meili to Jason. (Spoiler alert: it's written after Wilder ends.)

Andrew Simonet I rode a motorcyle a lot like Jason’s bike in my 20s. I gave it up when a driver in Philly ran a red light and came eight feet from annihilating me.

I’m not Jason, though there are enegrgies and urges we share. He’s a kid who has to raise himself, and I had periods like that growing up. We share some internal wiring. We hate pity. We have a hard time seeing beyond our internal story. And we adore anyone who can out-think and out-swerve us. But Jason’s challenges aren’t mine, His love of fighting, the addictions in his family, his isolation. He’s his own person, and not inspired by any real-life person.

He showed up, is how I would say it.
Andrew Simonet Wilder started out as a heroic story: troubled boy redeems himself, uses his violence for good. That was what the narrator was telling me and telling himself. Without giving too much away, that's not where it ended up. The process of writing Wilder mirrored Jason's experience: the stories we tell ourselves (especially we men) need checks and balances.
Andrew Simonet "The lights went out.
I shaved my head.
Now I'm going to find my brother."

I'm writing a novel about a young woman, a huge power outage/everything outage, and what happens when people lose their story. (She loves it, loves moving through the world without a story, without that burden.)
