S.E. Craythorne I'm afraid I'm not privy to the workings of the NWC website, or when/if the stories will be published. It's probably best to contact Phyllida?

It was an absolute pleasure to read and place your beautiful story! 'Sparrow' seemed to me so sincere and thoughtful. I loved it! Congratulations to you.
S.E. Craythorne When I was younger, I would have said Catherine and Hareton Earnshaw (Wuthering Heights). I was never a Heathcliff girl, but I had a MAJOR crush on Hareton. Of course they are cousins, which is a bit ick, but still…

Now I'm older (yes!) and wiser (…maybe), I have a couple of favourite couples. The pair in Katherine Mansfield's short story 'Something Strange, But Very Natural' for their purity and beauty; and George Simeon's Maigrets. Mrs Maigret is so wonderfully calm and such a wonderful chef in the face of anything. Her quiet nature is much underrated, I feel. I have always thought of her as a Mycroft figure to Maigret's Holmes, one feels she holds all the answers if only her husband would ask!
