Have you read David Ramsay Steele's great bio/analysis: "Orwell Your Orwell"?

Michael C. Perkins I just got your question from GR today (1/10/2022).

I have not read Steele's book, but it sounds good.

I think it helps to see that Homage to Catalonia is part of a trilogy, to go along with 1984 and Animal Farm. Catalonia gives the background that helps us understand these other two books better.

I love that quote by Hitchens re Orwell, Michael. I've just finished 1984 - and yep, too true. I miss Hitchens very much - a wonderful mind. Imagine him and Orwell having a chat over a coffee?
