I can't figure out how to explain pronunciation in a static form on here. I find those word breakdowns in dictionaries and elsewhere very difficult to read and translate in my own head, so I'm unsure how to do it here. It may have something to do with my dyslexia.

I like to do a google search for pronunciation's of items that bug me, sometimes you'll find vids pronouncing them differently .... Maybe find a video

(view spoiler)[I've been rereading your series and something has caught my mind. Primo. Several books back, I'm currently reading Hit List, Primo was rolled by Jean Claude and Anita to stop him from causing further injury to bouncers and customers alike. Afterwards he was tucked away into a cross-wrapped coffin. Is he still there? If so, will we see him again? (hide spoiler)]

Primo was sent back to his master, the Dragon, but I did do it off stage. You're not the first one to flag it. If you notice after Primo came and got tamed the Dragon stopped trying to mess with Jean-Claude and his people. We will be seeing more of that particular vampire council member now that the old council has imploded and is basically being replaced by the new power structure that Jean-Claude is creating. All the old council members that are not accounted for will be resurfacing eventually.

(view spoiler)[Hey! Im a huge fan. I started Anita, reread many times before I decided to read Merry as I felt like cheating on her. I found something in your style that just touches me deep and thats why I need your advice . I might be overreacting but since Sholto's dead I can't get over my grief .It has been 6 months and I'm still crying when I hear a song softer than heavy metal because it reminds me of him.How did you recover ? (view spoiler)[Richard hates himself more than he hates anyone else, or he did. He's making progress in his therapy, but not sure there's enough progress for him to ever accept his inner beast and own being Ulfric completely. Self hatred has a way of spilling out over other people so yes, he hates Anita for not being what he wanted her to be, and he hates Jean-Claude for a lot of reasons, but mostly he hates his wolf. He hates not being human, not being "normal", and does so much to push away anyone that could accept him werewolf and all. I hope Richard finds his inner happiness someday, whatever that will look like. (hide spoiler)]

The fish got sick while she was away raising zombies and passed away. Anita then realized she was working too many hours and traveling too much to even have fish.

I don't worry what other people will think of me when they read my books. The characters are the characters, and not you, or me. Don't cripple yourself creatively by worrying that other people will think badly of you because you've written a kick ass villain. It's called fiction for a a reason. Sorry it's taken me so long to go through questions, but I hope you finished your book.

My books are usually ahead of my real life. I researched the first Meredith Gentry novels before I became Wiccan. I researched BDSM for the Anita Blake novels before I realized I was kinky. I was poly in both series before I realized that it was my sexual orientation. My subconscious is always ahead of me. I just finished the first novel in a brand new series, A Terrible Fall of Angels. I wonder what my subconscious is trying to tell me now?
Laurell K. Hamilton
Thank you, I started off researching BDSM the same way I researched guns, or mythology. I've never understood why other writers treat kink as if it doesn't need to be researched like it's not a real sexual orientation. The research on paper came before I joined the community, but I've been publicly out as poly and kinky for awhile now.

(view spoiler)[Yes, and the originally ending it was three of Merry's men dead, not just one. I couldn't bear it and neither could Merry, so I rewrote the ending, but Merry has stopped talking to me until I can fix what was broken. I'm making notes and only my deep sorrow at the end of the last book prevented me from seeing it all. I was traumatized by the ending myself, so I completely understand the fan reaction, but don't give up more is coming. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[I didn't realize that people were assuming this about Micah and the Coalition for a few books. Like you say, he was a good guy and went along with what Anita wanted and needed, so I guess I thought the readers would understand that meant he wasn't being a villain about Coalition business. When I realized that some readers were missing that I stated it on paper in the novel, Affliction that the Coalition only goes into another wereanimal territory if they are asked by the animal group, the police, the local government, or to stop a war between groups. I also stated that Micah puts his life on the line to stop those wars and keep people safe. (hide spoiler)]

No, if the characters were embarrassed by a scene I'd skip the scene.

(view spoiler)[Fair is fair, if Anita is sleeping with more men, then Jean-Claude should have the opportunity to sleep with other women. To be truly polyamorous you have to work your jealousy and insecurity issues, and Anita finally worked hers to a point of comfort. I've been surprised how many fans were upset about Jean-Claude sleeping with Envy. Later in the books the relationship with Envy doesn't work, due to jealousy on her part, not Anita's. Yes, I am planning to revisit that storyline, and you're not the only one that's asked about them. No, I don't know when I will get around to telling the next part of their story.

My characters do more deciding than I do, but I'm a character driven writer, so if a character has a better idea I'll throw out a plot and start over. I hate killing characters, except for villains. It seems no matter who it is, I come up later and want to use them in a story, or just miss them. It's one reason I hate to kill anyone off. I've never killed anyone on paper because I was tired of them. I don't think I get tired of my characters, irritated, exasperated but not tired.

First draft is my favorite part. Editing after the second draft is my least favorite. The more drafts a book takes to get to a point where I'm happy to send it to my editor the less fun it is, but it's all worth it in the end. The most drafts I've ever done before sending a book off is eight, and that was my very first novel, Nightseer.

(view spoiler)[I'll totally disagree with you on, Blood Noir, because I loved finding out Jason's background, meeting his family, and finding out their dark secrets. I enjoyed the political intrigue part of the plot, and the horror elements. There are erotic scenes in the book, yes, but Jason has to visit a hospital and see his father dying of cancer - that is not a book that never leaves the hotel room or is just talk and sex. Jason faced some incredibly hard issues in this book. Anita had to be his emotional support, and it was not a role that came easily to her. They both grew as characters and nearly died in this book. I guess every reader brings their own filter to a book, and you're entitled to your opinion, but I recently reread this book and I still loved it. As the writer it's really hard to reread your own work and not want to change things, so that Blood Noir passed that test is a high bar. (hide spoiler)]

Thanks, there's no ending in sight for Anita. I think of her books like a mystery series which is open ended. I hope you enjoyed, A Shiver of Light, and before you ask there will be another Merry book. There's always pressure from readers to write the way they want the story to go, but the trick is the readers don't agree on which direction that should be. There is no way to please everyone, so I just have to write the books as they come to me.
