The One Who Got Away

I ran down to the grocery store last week to pick up a few things and was confronted by the past.  The voice of Judy Collins singing Both Sides Now was playing over the sound system, and I immediately wondered if the song conjured up strong memories for anyone else in the store. It was the summer of 1968. I was fifteen and working as a waitress at Camp Ramah in the Berkshires. The summer program w

Christine Hatfield thanks for being my friend

Phyllis The Manicurist is the story of Tessa Emanuel, a young woman who becomes a manicurist because it allows her to use gift of prescience without detection and at her own discretion. Engulfed by vivid images of the past, she cannot forget her mother who allegedly died in a car accident when Tessa was just a child. Although the body of Tessa’s father was found, Tessa is obsessed by memories of her mother whose battle with mental illness made Tessa’s childhood a secret world of beauty and betrayal.  Tessa marries and has a daughter of her own, but Tessa must come to terms with her own identity as a daughter, a wife, a mother, and a woman—but above all she must seek release from her haunting memories and her gift that often feels more like something she wants to escape.  Disturbing, mysterious, and compassionate, The Manicurist is a breathtaking novel of a woman grappling with the tangled knot of her life.Phyllis Schieber

Ed Rambeau Thanks for accepting my friend request, Phyllis. You seem like an interesting person, so feel free to tell me more about yourself and perhaps we can grow to become even greater friends. I, myself, am a singer/songwriter/actor who has recently turned author. My 2 top ten recordings were CONCRETE & CLAY (as a singer) and NAVY BLUE (as a writer)...both in the early 1960's. My first novel is an unusual murder mystery entitled: FORBIDDEN STEPS.

Regards, and have a great day, Ed
