Clay Eals is the author of "Steve Goodman: Facing the Music" (ECW Press, ISBN 978-1-55022-732-1).

"Steve Goodman: Facing the Music" is an 800-page, 575-photo biography of the singer/songwriter best known for "City of New Orleans," "You Never Even Call Me by My Name," "Banana Republics" and "A Dying Cub Fan's Last Request." In 1984 at age 36, Goodman died of leukemia, leaving a potent legacy of music and musical collaboration.

The book comes with an 18-track CD of songs written and performed by other artists in tribute to Goodman.
