Simone Saueressig nasceu em Campo Bom (RS), em 1964. Publicou seu livro de estréia, O mistério do formigueiro (Kuarup), em 1987. Trabalhou como editora de páginas infantis do Jornal NH e do Diário Ya de Madri (Espanha). Desde a década de 80 atua como professora de dança.

Simone tem vários títulos publicados para o público infantil e infanto-juvenil, entre eles O palácio de Ifê (L&PM, 1989), A máquina fantabulástica (Scipione, 1997), Receita para um dragão (Scipione, 1999), Um vulto nas trevas (2004) e Fortaleza de Cristal, publicado em 1993 pela L&PM Editores, finalista do Prêmio Tibicuera de Literatura Infantil em 1994.
