Lucky Hart, Make the Play

“Meet me in my office for lunch and I’ll tell you,” Jason says as if trying to entice him. As if he wants Emerson to be there. It makes absolutely no sense. Jason King makes no sense.”
Lucky Hart, Make the Play

“Alone in his room, he would close his eyes and think that maybe if he could be the smartest or the strongest kid, maybe his dad would have more attention and love for him. By the time he was a teenager, he’d stopped crying.”
