Suicide Notes by Michael Thomas Ford

Clear rating
It's been a long time since I read a book in a day. But Suicide Notes was so readable and I couldn't keep the book down.

I have already bought the sequel because I am that eager to know how Jeff leads his life after his release from psych ward.

Persuasion by Jane Austen
Rate this book

A rather disappointing read. I couldn't quite get into this book and despite taking almost 2 weeks to finish it, it still meant skimming the last few pages. Was too confusing and lacked the charm of Emma. ...more

ADHD for Smart Ass Women by Tracy Otsuka
Rate this book
Clear rating
The title of the book alone says it all. This is a book on ADHD for "smart-ass women." NOT for us struggling folks who don't want to call this a superpower.

It comes across as self-promotional and lacks practical use. Most of it you would know anyway

Small Things Like These by Claire Keegan

It's hard to classify this book. So tender. Such a gentle offering to life.

And what are we here for, if not to help another?

That is the question the book seeks to answer.

Normally Weird and Weirdly Normal by Robin Ince
Rate this book

I am a bit surprised at the rave reviews here. This book sets out to promise but doesn't really deliver.

It rambles, presents a bit here and there, but for someone who is already neurodivergent, there may not be much there.

I Who Have Never Known Men by Jacqueline Harpman
Rate this book
Clear rating
I have barely read any science fiction and I didn't know this was one.

I was more intrigued by the blurb and picked it up, despite my reluctance with the genre.
It's compulsively readable, frustratingly vague, and poignantly beautiful.

It filled me wit

Emma by Jane Austen
Rate this book
Clear rating
It's been so long since I read Jane Austen! Must be nearly two decades! I was tempted to pick this one up because one of my friends so adores her work.

Emma doesn't disappoint. If you have patience, you learn what it is to be slowly drawn into a stor

I Hate Men by Pauline Harmange
I Hate Men
by Pauline Harmange (Goodreads Author)
Rate this book

I can see why eyebrows would be raised if I said I read this book. But Pauline makes a strong case for misandry, and you find yourself agreeing. Pity the book is so short, but it packs a punch. Don't be put off by the title. It's worth a read. ...more

Against the Loveless World by Susan Abulhawa

A book that I needed to read given what we see is happening in Gaza right now. Susan Abulhawa does a great job of interweaving a complex history. In her books, the women come to the fore. Contrary to the title, there's so much love, though, even in a ...more

The Hundred Secret Senses by Amy Tan
The Hundred Secret Senses
by Amy Tan (Goodreads Author)

Not of my favorite books from Amy Tan. While reading, I had the strangest sense that I had read this book before. I couldn't find a trace of it on Goodreads, however. Perhaps, like Amy Tan's characters in this book, I have my own reading ghost.
