Majok Tulba was born in Pacong Village in South Sudan. He fled war-torn South Sudan as a sixteen-year-old, and now lives in Sydney with his wife and children. He was awarded a NSW Premier's CAL Literary Centre Fellowship. Beneath the Darkening Sky is his first novel and was shortlisted for New South Premier’s Literary Awards-community Relations commission2013, Commonwealth Book Prize 2013, the Dylan Thomas Prize 2013 and won Kathleen Mtichell Literary Award 2014.
