Rajiv Seth is an aeronautical engineer.
Armed with a B Tech from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, he went on to do an M Tech from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras and a Ph D in Business Administration (Finance) from the Aligarh Muslim University.

As an engineer officer in the Indian Air Force, he has worked on various types of aircraft.
He now works with the TERI University at New Delhi where he teaches finance, and looks after the administration of the university. He is married, loves to cook, and does use his daughters as guinea pigs for his culinary delights – as he insists on calling them. He presently resides at Noida.
