Su Fu (also Grace Fu, born as Fu Jianhuang and in Hongkong known as Fu Kin Wong, 傅建煌) began to write early in her life. The first of her short stories that has been published was "Rongna wode kongjian" 容纳我的空间 ("The space that surrounds me") in the Beijing literary journal Chou xiaoya (丑小鸭). After a short time full with literary activity a long pause followed. Fu Su worked as a nurse, beauty councelor, librarian, singer, business woman, copy-editor, teacher and house-wife. She also acquired university degrees in this time (B.A. in „Western Arts and Humanities“ from the Open University Hong Kong and an M.A. in Chinese as a Foreign Language from the Language University of Beijing).
