Michael Alcroft is the pen name of Dr ME Smith, a professor of international relations in Scotland. A former Fulbright scholar to the European Union in Brussels, where "The Spy Bazaar" is set, he specialises in the politics of international security and technology. He is the author of two non-fiction books and has lived in Europe for eight years. He has a particular interest in the causes and consequences of the First World War, which inspired the writing of "The Spy Bazaar", a novel about the creation of the British Secret Service and the origins of World War I. ...more
