Fayçal Bey est un personnage très charismatique, prince des mille et une nuits, né au palais de Carthage sous le règne de son arrière-grand-père le Bey Lamine 1er, dernier bey de Tunisie.
Fayçal Bey a deux ans lorsque le régime beylical est aboli en faveur d’Habib Bourguiba, premier président de la Tunisie. Il vit à Paris et donne des conférences sur le patrimoine historique et culturel de son pays.
Son roman La dernière odalisque fut un grand succès de librairie lors de sa sortie en 2001, traduit en plusieurs langues.
