James, I have just read your review with appreciation. I love Jo Nesbo reads because, as you express so well, he is an excellent writer and the books flow wonderfully. But you do fully address other issues I have had with the last few Harry Hole books and indeed with the Headhunters as well. Why such a heavy digree extraordinary violence and why does he take HH to hell and back and the reader's loyalty and concern with it! A few times in both TL and H I truly found the plot too far fetched for credibility and while I love the reads IMO the two take a lot of the good out of the read for me. I like flaws and tension but there is a limit to what I will bother to read and the last two have really pushed me to that limit. Even in an interview JN talks about HH coming to his end! Why....
Hi Sharon, and thanks. I'm curious about what was going through his mind when he plotted the book. We're published by the same imprint here in Finland, and he comes to Helsinki once in a while. Odds are good I'll get a chance to talk with him one of these days. If I do, I'll ask him about it.
