Eva’s Byte #379 – The Lost Sole

On the cusp of my sister and her family’s upcoming visit to the East Coast, I’ve been revisiting many memories stored over the years. Some of the funniest spring to mind, and will more than likely, get lost in the translation. I’m giving one of them a whirl.

Each year we’ve taken a narrated cruise covering ten Rhode Island lighthouses in Narragansett Bay. That particular year, my mother, ever the smart dresser, wore a casual outfit with matching leather stretch sandals that had rubber soles. She admitted to not having worn them for ages.

A popular summer tourist attraction, we had to trek from the parking lot of crushed stones ahead of joining the long line wending around the dock to the ferry. Nearing our destination, my mother noticed one of those rubber soles was missing. I can guess where she lost her sole.

Having to foot it off-balance until we brought her home, you might say she put her best foot forward for the duration of our day trip. She made a mental note to wear sneakers for the rest of our outings.

In the capacity of a writer, I crossed the finish line of chapter 16 (1603 words) along a soulful journey within my Contemporary work in progress.

*May each of us put our best foot forward along life’s arduous journey.

My sincere appreciation for reading this far.
