Zoom, zoom: race day is here, and Huckle Cat and his friends are getting their special cars ready for the big event. But one by one, each vehicle has a problem, creating scenes of comic calamity. It's Huckle to the rescue …but who will win the race?
This book was given to my youngest as a birthday gift when he was 4. The book has interesting pictures which helps in discussions about what is occurring in the story, what is funny about the picture, what is interesting about the cars and trucks or other topics he would like to point out on the pages. The words are repetitive which helps build confidence for early readers. Three years later, we still periodically read this book just for a quick, fun story.
Scarry beginning readers, yay! It's race day and Huckle is preparing, then racing. Uh oh, some of his friends are not doing so well---how will he fare in the race? My readers liked this one for the familiarity of the characters and fun aspects of the story.
Busy Town is having a race, and all the friends are trying to win. Each one runs into a problem but everyone still encourages Huckle... "Go Huckle Go" is repeated over and over in this book. So a beginning reader could recognize and read these several times. A simple fun storybook.
