Luke's a dawg! And cheating on Nesta! With TJ! And it's on! Lucy sides with Nesta (especially when TJ dumps Lucy's brother OVER EMAIL) and Izzie's on TJ's side. Friends before boys, girls, friends before boys. Obviously it gets worked out, because there are more books in the series, but OH! THE DRAMA!

T.J. is awful! I mean, how did she suddenly jump to the conclusion that her best friend's boyfriend was her soulmate after meeting him a few times? And shouldn't she have broken up with Steve before letting him give her hickeys? Also, when she finally did break up with Steve, she used email! What the frick?? Not to mention the book was terribly dull. 2.5/5

I love the mates, dates series and I love the way the books are laid out so you get to now every character individually this time hearing tj's story was really good but I didn't like the fact that tj cheats on Steve and lies to nesta makes me like this book a little less but still fantastic when I read these books I feel like I'm one of the gang LOVE THESE BOOKS!!

I finished this book in just A DAY! totally addictive, I absolutely ship TJ and Luke but there's no way i'd want TJ to be with Luke after what he had done. What an unfortunate tho. The story is relatable af, probably my fav so far (im on the 10th book now)

I can't deal with the drama in this book! And still this is one of my favourites.
I just want to shout that stop, no, why. But as I know what will happen later on The series, well let's say I love to read this and see the character development in certain people later on. :D

The four stars are given by my younger self. The lecture was easy and really captivating for a young lector but now it makes me a lil uncomfortable knowing I was reading about the possibilities of cheating when I was 12. Maybe it's just me.

I really enjoyed these books when I was younger. I’ve definitely matured, and not sure I’d enjoy them too much now. But great for younger readers, say about 11-14? Silly and fun but you get to love the main characters

So gripping man, this was such a wild book, I think I hated and loved every character (yes even Luke he charmed me). If you like romantic comedies with drama on every single turn of events then this is definitely for you.

I read Mates Dates, and Tempting Trouble. In this book suprises come up. When all 4 girls sign up to make a book for the city trouble happens. T.J. goes in a group with Luke. She finds out that Luke may be flirting with her and doesntknow what to do. She doesnt tell Nesta. She tries to stay away from him as much as possible but that couldnt happen. Can T.J. stay away from Luke so Nesta wont get hurt and something bad will happen.
I have a text-to-world connection. This connects to the world because sometimes things happen like. I ve also read thingslike this in books when they can fall in love with the wrong person so the other wont get hurt. Things can happen like this in the real world. So i guess it is also a text-to-text connection.
I give this book *****stars. I gave it 5 stars becauseit was soo dramatic. You would never know what would come up next and the next moment was so juicy. When T.J. has one dream she is snogging with Luke things just get better. If you want to know abou the end just read it!!!

and there re so much evidence, but TJ still cant see it!
i dunno that she's blind or pretending to be blind because of love?

Collective Review

I first read a couple of these books in 2006. I had a long bus trip and grabbed a couple of the series from a local bookstore. I had no idea they were part of a huge series. Over the years I had forgotten the names of the books but every now and then would try to find them. I finally found them this year from a Goodreads list. Yay!

I really enjoyed this series. I think the main reason is because the books were released in 2001 and the girls are 14. I was 13 in 2001 so can connect with a lot of the pop culture aspects mentioned throughout the series. Even though the series is based in England I still feel a sense of nostalgia while reading it.

I really love the girls and their friendship. I never had a close knit group of friends like this when I was younger so I liked reading about it. They are a bit too boy crazy for my liking but I really did love this series.

TJ is the tomboy of her group not one who usually catches a guys attention. She's dating Lucy's brother Steve her first boyfriend. But when her best friend Nesta's boyfriend Luke shows an interest she can't help, but show some back. She gets the feeling that Luke could just be playing with her heart, but she's really blinded by love. When TJ takes the plunge and makes out with Luke and breaks up with Steve it causes trouble not only for her, but her foursome of best friends. Luke lies to Nesta and claims that TJ came on to him and that she only kissed him. Lucy sides with Nesta and Izzy sides with TJ breaking up the foursome. Can TJ convince that Nesta that she's telling the truth and reform the friendship?

The story is easy to understand and I like of Cathy choose her usage of words in the book. It is easier for me to brush up my English. She doesn't use that much of a bombastic words. So, it helps me to read easily and if there are a few words that I don't understand, i will look up in the dictionary and hoping that i will use it in my English essays.

About the story line, it's okay but I read better stories from her. There was not much of a thrill reading this book as I read some of her Mates, Dates series which is much better.

I've read this book a few times in the many years I've owned it.... It's such a gushy, comfortable teenage romance, and sometimes it's exactly what I need to read. Sometimes, even I need a book filled with mates, dates, and a little bit of tempting trouble!

You think I'd learn my lesson after the first one. Not horrible; I would have liked as a teen, but as an adult I was dying for the book to end.
