adult sci fi, The first couple of chapters were hard to get through, but once I understood the world, out was a great adventure. alternate future, intense computer programming in a virtual realty, katanas, skate boarders that harpoon cars, and saving the world

If your a sci fi fan I highly recommend this book. I think it's must read book. It's an early book about cyber punks and VR. The main characters are Hiro and YT. One is a hacker and the other courier. It takes place in the not so distant future in a very different US. It's part action adventure, part mystery and part study in ancient civilizations. It's a great book and I look forward to reading it again.

One of the best books I've ever read. It was so ahead of it's time in predicting the world of the internet that the term 'virus' came from this book. It is about hacking and all the stuff we know about every day but was written before most people even knew what the internet was !!!
Truly prescient and a good read as well.

The only thing I dislike about this book is the ending. I feel unresolved. Other than that, it is spectacular and in my top 5.

This is one of my favorite Stephenson ones. More plausible than Diamond Age.

I enjoyed other books from Neal Stephenson and I was told this one was one of his best ones, so the expectations were perhaps too high and I didn't like it as much as I thought.
