A New Source of Magic

Rate this book
The Mediterranean has never been more magical...

...nor so dangerous.

Pure evil rises from the depths.

From Pompeii to Malta, and the islands beyond, Anaïs Blue’s extraordinary adventures continue. With her promptuary repaired, the little witch is now compelled to test its full capabilities.

It will be no holiday.

Her nemesis returns with supernatural help more powerful than even a witch can imagine. And to make matters worse, a war raging in the witch community threatens to upset the balance of the universe.

Mercifully, Anaïs is not alone. Her band of trusted misfits are by her side. With more thrown in for good measure.

But faced with magical forces far beyond the powers of mere mortals, protecting those she cares most about may be more than a novice witch can handle.

Anaïs is the universe’s only hope. But is this a battle she can win?

There are some books in this world that change your perception of what it is to be a reader. This is one of them. The experience of reading this series, and this instalment in particular, is distinct from the experience of reading most books, regardless of genre. It is the kind of book that you learn from, and like all great books, each time you read it you learn something different about yourself; about who you are and who you want to be in that moment. The little witch Anaïs Blue takes us on the most peculiar journey of self-discovery, and it due to the skill of the author that we so willingly go along with her. The format, the approach, and the writing style are unique and disarmingly charming, and the story is at its heart a rollicking good read! In my top 5 books this year.

I'm so glad Anais Blue is back! I love her quirky outlook on life, which gets quirkier in every book. In this one, we travel from Malta to Sicily and back again, following Anais on her quest to outwit the Inquisitor and save Nan.

The informative chapters about life, witches and the witching community are cleverly written, and give a completely unique perspective on this subject. I like how they intertwine with whatever is going to happen to Anais next.

The book gives us new details about Anais, her family, and witches in general, while still keeping you guessing where the story is going to go next. A page turner from beginning to end, and a book that older children and adults will enjoy. Highly recommend, and can't wait for the next one!

Anais Blue is my favorite little witch. She is gaining wisdom and experience. Anais is beginning to outshine the Witch "Organisation" (sic). Her adventures are such fun to read about. Written with humor and an interesting portion of witching philosophy it gives the reader plenty to think about. Very cleverly done!
I was given an ARC of P.J. Whittlesea's Brimstone and Ashes: The Extraordinary Adventures of the Good Witch Anaïs Blue Volume 3 and am voluntarily posting an honest review.

I enjoyed reading about Anais' adventure and the remarkable people and items she comes across. I love Anais's character. She's intelligent, stubborn, sly, brave and determined to do good. She may be the size of an 8 yr. old, but it doesn't let it stop her! This book has adventure, danger, secrets revealed, fun, witches, hellhounds, magic, shades, humor and more.

Totally amazing. This book takes on a journey with Anais, a good witch. Once there, you really don’t want to come back. Can’t wait for the next book.

Disclaimer - I received a free advance copy of the book but that just bumped it to the top of my “to read” list and didn’t influence this review.

Once again there is trouble and Anaïs is either right in the middle of it or chasing after it! I love the characters and it’s a nice change from the crime/thriller/sci-fi books I normally read. There are parts that assume you’ve read the earlier books - such as how and why Anaïs interacts with shades and some of the characters from earlier books are referenced. It’s definitely worth reading them in order. There are some interesting revelations throughout this book and as for the ending... I can’t wait for the next book!!

In this 3rd Anais Blue series book ( she prefers Purple rather than blue) I continue to be impressed by the author’s wisdom as expressed thru Anais and the narrator. Anais is confronted by almost impossible obstacles as she learns more about her own powers. She is also made aware of so many good and bad characters who are actually her relatives. One of the most enchanting characters Anais meets along her travels is Ella, the Apothecary who is a relentless inventor. Can she prevail against the Inquisitor and his Hellhounds? How can you resist finding out?

I received this as an ARC from the author, but am voluntarily posting an honest review.

This wonderful.
The very first chapter 'Fairy Tales' is priceless! The interludes between chapters are terrific.
Anaïs has quite an adventure in Italy trying to rescue Nan from the Inquisitor.
I received this book as an ARC and love these stories.
