I almost don't know where to start with this review. Hmm. Okay. First off, I didn't care for this book. At all. Here's the thing, I like almost all the different elements that made up this book. I like books with werewolves. I like books with menages. I like books with werewolf menages. I like books with BDSM elements. I like erotica. Frankly, putting all those things together should have been a cornucopia of delights for me. BUT IT WASN'T.

This book was hard to read. The characters were all over the place. The action didn't feel fully fleshed out. Even the sex scenes (of which there were many!) didn't have the emotional impact they could have had. Most of that was because of the Jaycee. I had a really hard time believing that a woman who had been beaten NEARLY TO DEATH within the opening pages of the book would be comfortable entering into a D/s relationship. I get that it's a lifestyle choice but ... no. Someone who had nearly died is now a-okay with having someone flog her? Someone who was gang raped as a teen and has spent the past 15 years running away and hiding the truth is okay with having a group of men watch her and her mate having sex? I just didn't believe it.

Beyond that, Jaycee proudly admits that she's a "trained submissive" yet she's also expected to be the Alpha female of Dane's pack. I just can't wrap my head around that. I also personally loathe the term "Alpha Bitch" which is used repeatedly.

I had a very difficult time telling the secondary characters apart. I thought the dramatic showdown between Jaycee and her mother and stepfather was a big dud. I have no idea why the book was stopped practically in the middle of a scene.

I feel like I'm bitching at this point and I don't want to do that so I'm going to leave you on this note: honestly, half the time I had no idea what was going on. If I can't follow the action or the thought processes of the characters, I'm not going to be able to get into the story. And that was the problem here. I never felt any connection to the characters (of which I think there were a few too many) and I ended up not particularly caring what happened to them.

Sorry, guys. This one wasn't for me. On so many levels.

To take the word from a song "I’m trying to find the words to describe this {book} without being disrespectful…"

To start out positive, I'd recommend reading the blurb, it's pretty much the most informative part about the book regarding the characters than you will find in the actual book especially regarding the Alpha Mates. It was the blurb that made me pick up the book, the idea of the story had merits. Why else would I have bought it?!

I was sorely disappointed though when the book didn't turn out to be what I had anticipated.

I didn't think the book was badly written, as in proper grammar and the like, but the pacing was all off for me. Things happened way too fast. Understandably it's was a paranormal romance so suspension of disbelief is expected, but this went into the ridiculous. I felt the author was trying to put too many elements into the book both story wise and sexually that it just became a Smorgasbord of stuff.

Jaycee the MC, who is on the run from a horribly abusive relationship, and the next thing I know she jumping into bed with not just one man but three...whom she barely knows by the way. Then she instantly in love...
The intimacy between the MC felt forced and formulaic. For someone who just left an abusive relationship she was very accepting of some hardcore sexual elements in her relationship (ie fisting, spanking, surprise additional partners - verging on rape, exhibitionism) that didn't jive with what I would expect of a sexually abused person.

I did try to give the story a chance, but i don't think I will read and subsequent stories from this series.

Jaycee Manz is recovering from a brutal attack when Dane Glassgo, alpha of his clan shows up to tell her he is her mate. Jaycee knows all about shifters and alphas, but she keeps her knowledge hidden from Dane and the circumstances of her past shielded from his thoughts. Jaycee knows that her ex will be relentless and will hurt those that she has come to care for, she plans to flee the first chance she gets.

Jaycee underestimates Dane and his brothers, thrown into the mix is alpha brother Mark who with one moment is a partner in bed, the next her second mate. What unfolds is a powerful alpha bitch, Jaycee, who is not your ordinary mate, and another surprise is about to shock her to her core as a third mate reveals himself. As if bieng hunted is bad enough, how is she going to handle three mates?

I gave this a 3.75, almost a 4. I had a couple issues in the beginning with the domineering attitude and lack of sensitivity for Jaycee and what she had been through, but midway through that changed. This is a pretty raw, rough, and explicit read but it hsa that extra something that compels you to not put it down. The only thing I will say about the ending is it is abrupt, so if you want to find out what happens next have to get the next one.

When I started reading this book it had been on my to-be-reviewed-shelf for a while and I initially forgot to look up the backblurb and just jumped in, since it was time that I finally got to it.
In the first paragraph we meet Dane, alpha leader of his pack, who is worrying about his mate, or to be more precise, the woman he's going to claim as his mate, Jaycee. Shortly after, Jaycee is introduced, as a woman who's severely abused by her ex-husband. And then the hero and heroine meet each other. They instantly mate and Jaycee's 'running in fear' starts, because her ex-husband is after her. Dane wants to protect her, but she thinks she can handle it on her own and runs from him.

After this opening of the story I started to fear for a heroine with TSTL tendencies and I was wondering about the background of Dane's pack and their mating that already happened so early in the book. So, I looked up the backblurb and discovered I was in for a few more mates for Jaycee. I didn't find out more about the background, since it wasn’t mentioned in the backblurb, but I kept reading and was soon introduced to Marc and Pierre, Jaycee's other mates.
Meanwhile quite some sex scenes had taken place, with lots of graphic descriptions but lack of an emotional level. Jaycee also got dressed up to play a role as a submissive to deceive her ex, James, and his friends at some club. That was the plan. Except, this story thread never returned in the rest of the book. And to be honest, it rang false to me that Jaycee was trained as a submissive like she stated, because she acts anything but submissive.
At this point we're not even 20% into the book and already I have quite some reservations.

And it doesn't get better. More and more I feel like I'm reading a rather inconsistent story with cardboard characters that are playing out a not very believable script, like they are actors in a cheap pron movie. We're tumbling from one event into the next one and it all feels like a bit too much and too spur of the moment. Additionally, none of the protagonists are very likable characters. My fear regarding the heroine turned out to be true, her actions don't make much sense, often she's contradicting herself and I just couldn't like her.

But despite the awkward flow of the plot, the unlikely events and the flat characters I kept reading, hoping for a satisfying romantic story arc. To no purpose! There's no romantic development whatsoever, just a few rather rough sex scenes without any insight in the protags' feelings or thoughts. And to top it all off, the book ends with an unexpected 'To Be Continued' in the middle of a 'relationship problem'. Not a hint of a Happy For Now or Happy Ever After ending. Very frustrating! How could an editor/publisher let this happen?
And to be honest, I don’t think I’ll pick up the sequel because I actually won't believe in a HEA anymore - after the way the fourth (!) mate was introduced things seem pretty irreparable. At least for me.
Overall, I'm rather disappointed in this book and I have to think twice if I'll read the sequel any time soon, if at all.

I like werewolves and I like their stories so was anticipating a good one here. I think the basic premise of the story holds up and was glad to read it. However, I didn't think the writing style was as accomplished and polished as the work from other authors. Ms Blacio certainly kept the story moving, but the movement from one conversation or setting to another was awkward and just felt "jerky." I don't know how else to describe it. I was also disappointed at the "cliff hanger" ending--of course there is more to come, but each book in a series can have a sense of completion without making it impossible to move on to another phase of the story. So I felt this novel was found wanting on some levels while it certainly was an erotic tale of a young shapeshifter who had been on the run, was having a difficult time coming to grips with her future as the mate of three Alpha males, and who ultimately wondered if they really cared about her at all or just what she could provide for them in the bedroom. Not a bad storyline--not well presented IMHO.

Oh my word!

This book rocked my world. It was a fast read but packed a huge emotional punch. I love the strong female lead. I wanted to slap the hero's upside the head. I fell for Pierre even after reading Remi's story. I can't wait for the next book to be released!! (Abandoned)

Jaycee Mans has been on the run for a very long time. A loner, independent. Now she has three werewolves who want to be her mates. What is she to do when trust doesn't come easy for her.

This was a pretty good read. Loving werewolf stories as I do, I thought this was an enjoyable one. Sizzling hot indeed. This short story moved along pretty fast. Running In Fear: Escaped was tantalizing. Sexy wolves await you in the pages of this story. The prequel to this story can be found in the Anthology Threesomes.

It is difficult to write a review for this piece. While some of the concepts have merit, they were never actualized. The character development and world building was lacking & very confusing. The story read overall like a rough draft. It needs a lot of work and polishing to have some resemblance of depth. Erotica should not be an excuse for paper-thin story writing.

This book was more than a little confusing from the very beginning but I was hoping it would get better as it went along. I was wrong. So many issues with this book but what finally made me DNF it was when the hero and heroine had sex in werewolf form while her father was in the bedroom with them. No. Just no.

Title: Running in Fear Book 1 - Escaped
Author: Trinity Blacio
Publisher: Riverdale Avenue Books
Date of Publishing: February 4, 2017

I came late to this series with book 3 and was having problems understanding what was going on so my sister loaned me her Kindle that had had the series on it for a morning while she was running errands. I hated to give it back that afternoon because I was thrilled to find other books by Ms. Blacio as well. I made note of the titles and plan on reading them soon.

This book is a bit like seeing a car wreck, you don't want to stare but can't seem to stop yourself either. Jaycee has known pain and despair her entire life. Practically from the time she was born. When her ex-husband nearly kills her, Dane, her best friend's brother is enraged because he knows Jaycee is his mate. He provides for Jaycee's recovery and finally he has come to claim what is his. Jaycee fears Dane and the danger she brings to his family and friends when she learns her ex and his friends are being released on a technicality.

Dane convinces her to stay (more like orders) and then Mark and Pierre come forward as her mates as well. While her ex and others continue to threaten her, her mates make some huge mistakes and Holly runs away. They find her and bring her back where they confront the threat to her life. One will be lost and a brother will seek revenge.

As you read you will be appalled by some of the actions of them men in Jaycees life. wanting to throw the book down in disgust at their stupidity and arrogance. Jaycee has a forgiving heart and generous nature making you want it all to work out for them. You will despair at times that they will ever grow a brain, but don't give up. They do love Jaycee and she does have a backbone. She will learn to step up and defend what is her right and belongs to her from all who would take it away even her misguided mates.

I gave "Running in Fear Book 1 - Escaped" a 4.25 out of a total of 5 stars. It would have been higher but they loss points for being stupid.

Edited and republished, "Escaped" is a werewolf BDSM book that focuses on Jaycee and her three Alpha partners, Remi, Dane and Mark. There were so many characters at first, it was a bit hard to keep them all straight. I did like that Jaycee was a feisty Alpha female and could hold her own with her mates.Throughout this first book there is so much going on with background story that it got a bit complicated. For those that love a paranormal werewolf story with a lot of sex and multiple partners, this is a series they will love. The cliffhanger is a bit heartbreaking and soothing at the same time for Jaycee. I am a very vocal person on cliffhangers, especially when it is not disclosed. As it is only fair to let the buyer know what they are buying, I subtract a star when it isn't. The story is dark and full of hot sexy werewolves, so if this is your genre, then I would recommend picking this one up. I would like to thank NetGalley and publisher for gifting me "Escaped". My opinion is my own. 2.5 to 3 Stars!

DNF chapter 4

Man I wanted to like this. I was so excited about a MfM, that might be a little more MMf. But there is just WAY too much going on and no where near enough explained. There's the alpha werewolf thing, the SEAL team thing, shared mate thing, the kidnapped and abused/raped woman thing, the psycho ex-husband thing, the BDSM thing, the secret history thing, the missing father and abusive stepfather thing. (That's just in the first 4 chapters!) It's all thrown at the reader out of nowhere; totally confusing and not fun to read.

And I get that this is erotica, so more focused on sex than plot or character development (of which there is none, I don't know these people at all, or care about them), but the sex has thus far been decidedly unappealing. This book is striking out on all fronts. And I don't like the narration either (though that could be her doing her best with the content). So, I'm talking TOTAL bust.

The thing is I have all seven of them on audio. I hate to give up on all of that. Maybe I'll try book two. But I'm kinda cringing at even the thought.

I received a free copy from NetGalley; this is my honest review.
I had to read the book twice to make sure I wasn't missing anything. I wasn't: this book leaves us with a huge cliffhanger and I wasn't prepared for it. Getting halfway through the story I understood the title: the heroine kept escaping her mates, thinking she could do better and they are never there to protect her anyways. I have read many of Blacio's books and enjoyed them all without exception. This is the first time I give a 3 stars. There is a lot of sex in this book but it's not loving sex; it's demanding and forcing; it's exciting but there are no emotions attached to the act and it shows. Jaycee didn't appeal to me like other strong-willed women. She was more of a drama queen, even with what she went through. We all know we deal differently with the same stress but she just went overboard to me. Remi seemed a better man in the prequel. It's too bad, it had potential.

I loved this story, it had non-stop action, romance and a villain you love to hate - or two! I couldn't help but feel for Jaycee, she just can't catch a break, after being on the run for half her life from abuse, shes confronted with not just one mate but three who are alpha and incredibly dominant. Unfortunately Jaycee's troubles do not end there, her mates are trying to roll right over her and sensitivity is not part of the package, and theres still the problem of her past resurfacing. This book was an emotional rollercoaster, and had me laughing and crying, along with wanting to throw something over the mates actions, I can't wait to start the next book!

This book was really weird to read. First of all, a woman who’s been beaten to a pulp somehow gets treated like crap. How is that supposed to make her feel loved? She’s definitely going to have PTSD from the similarities between her past and recent experiences—at least her dream hinted at that.

And then there’s the bizarre way Shelly gets coaxed into joining a BDSM club. Yeah, WTH?

This book gave me anxiety. It was cringy. Dumb. Toxic.
Story-wise, it was kind of okay, but the characters? All of them were awful. Rape is the highlight of the plot—it’s seriously bad. I wouldn’t recommend this book to anyone. Oh, there’s a cliffhanger, yup not going there.

I had a really hard time with this book, but I must say that the narrator did a great job considering what she had to deal with. To me the characters were all over the place and it made the action that showed up feel hardly fleshed out. Things happened way to fast as if the author was trying to put way to much in the short amount of time.

Escaped by trinity blacio.
Jaycee Manz, who has been on the run since her sixteenth birthday. After growing up fast and depending on no one, how is Jaycee supposed to handle three male werewolves who claim to be her mates? Can she learn to trust them or will she continue to run?
Her mates are all passionate, strong shifters, and they are all determined to protect her, regardless of what she wants for herself. Together, all four try to find peace and love, as the most powerful alphas in the U.S.—Remi, Dane and Mark—declare war on anyone who stands in their way of claiming their runaway mate. But can the independent Jaycee be claimed?
Fantastic read with brilliant characters. I loved the story although I wanted to badly slap jaycee mates. I have read a few of trinity books and have loved all of them. Can't wait to read more. This is a must read and I would highly recommend this book. 5*. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book from netgalley.

I received a copy of "Escaped" from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review.

This first book in the series has a prequel "Searching for the Perfect Mate: Remi's Story" (Remi is Andre's brother.) It shows how Remi fits into "Escaped". Although it does not need to be read for the reader to enjoy "Escaped" It does explain some of Remi's attitude and gives a little insight into Pierre's past.

Jaycee has spent the last 15 years on the run from her evil stepfather and mother. Now as the story opens has her in the hospital fighting for her life following a vicious attack from her husband and his friends. This story deals with some troublesome violent subjects such as rape and physical abuse. Although told in flashes of memories that are greatly edited the emotions and pain the characters felt are expressed very well. When Jaycee's mate, the pack Alpha comes to claim her Jaycee's first instinct is to run.

Then another mate steps forward and then another...

The past comes back to haunt her and threatens not only her life but the lives of those who desire to protect her. The story ends in a cliff-hanger, but the next story will soon be available. Trinity Blacio has revamped the entire series and is reissuing them. Even if you have read it before, you will enjoy the changes she has made. Watch as Jaycee grows in mental strength and physical. Strong enough to dress down her mates, stand up for herself and work towards closer of her past. Can she and her mates learn to show and express their love before the past and misunderstandings tear them all apart?

Strong characters with plenty of suspense and action keep the reader glued to this fast paced story from the opening hospital scene to the final scene that gives the reader hope for the future of Jaycee, her mates and the entire pack. I give "Escaped" a 4.25 out of 5 stars and believe it a story that will be read and enjoyed by many. Contains, strong language and explicit sexual scenes. It is in no way suitable for readers under the age of 18.

I hate writing bad reviews - I'm sorry! The story line seemed pretty good - it was just the little things that I didn't enjoy -

Jaycee (I love her name!) was severely beaten by her husband - took over 8 weeks to recover.. then all of a sudden, he gets out of jail from lack of proof that he did it??

She's at Shelly's cabin now, because Shelly knew he got out of jail and would come after her, and could protect her.. when she tells Jaycee about her family being werewolves, Jaycee is relieved to finally be around werewolves again. No one knows she is half werewolf but she knows that James will be after her.

Dane, her mate - she knew from the first time she saw him, and he knew from the first time he smelt her.. is Shelly's brother.. and he's sworn to protect Jaycee from her husband, and claim her.

Ok the first night Jaycee is there, Dane claims and bonds with her.. Now I love a good Alpha male who takes charge with his mate. Some mates can be pretty picky about their first time..

But Dane was pretty rough with this poor girl. She still had scars and bruises all over her. Still stiff from the pins they had to put in her newly healed legs

Jaycee escapes and runs to her friends who had helped take care of her after her step father and all his friends had raped her when she was 15.
These guys seem like pretty good guys, but they seem kind of clueless about what to do.. So they leave her in Dane's care

This is the part that I just had trouble with.. After her beatings (for 4 years!) Dane not only dropped her clothes to claim her over and over after pretty much every conversation they had - but he invited his good friend along to play too.. and by playing, I mean they took her down to the basement to their BDSM playroom!

When she got quiet and upset and didn't want to tell them her secret, they "punished" her with a flogger and anal plug?? And she loved it..

Ok - to each their own, right :) And this was only the first 25% of the book ...

Sorry again for the bad review. I was really looking forward to reading a good shapeshifter book - I love those Alpha males ... but this one just didn't work out for me..

Oh my gosh, this was terrible - it's one of the worst books that I've read in a long time.
The plot jumps around all over the place, the author doesn't take the time to flesh it out and make it more in-depth or even enjoyable. You never know who is speaking, the timeline seems to jump about and the characters are bland.
Ugh, waste of my money and I'm so sorry that I even bothered to buy it.

An example of the bad writing: the author is talking a mum & her child Sam, except they call the child Samantha then refer to the child as a 'he' ... weird, confusing and very poor editing.

As much as I love a good damsel in distress this book gave me whiplash. One minute the heroine is whining and crying that no one loves her and the next minute she is trying to kick everyone's ass. This character went beyond the damsel in distress and went strait into bi-polar city. She loves them, she hates them, then she loves them again. I lost count of how many times she ran away instead of saying "Hey @#$# listen up" and the one or two times she DID do that the heroes strong-armed her and plowed her over. Even at the end of the book there are no redeeming qualities of the men, they have shown no character growth what so ever and if I pull into the fantasy of the book, this is not the kind of men I would want to be around. I understand the need to build up and draw out tension but you have to give the reader SOME hope that the heroes aren't just a big fat smelly shack of @#$.
The book also ended horribly. They argue (big surprise), others outside the relationship pity her (big surprise) she runs away (another big surprise). You don't get to experience the mating bond, she still hates everyone and feels abused by everyone and there are still major threats.
If you can get past the ultra whinny heroine you will be forced to read the second book because it's like a two part episode of a tv show and you are left hanging out on the wind with no closure. The book leaves no warm happy feelings. I will likely not read the second book out of spite and when ever I think I might I'll just remind myself that she's just going to do the same thing again in the next book.
