“As negroes grew in racial pride, they displayed a sharply rising interest in black history”
This book was for me an introduction to African-American history including all of the important landmark events, as well as the thoughts and ideas that were present within the community throughout its history. While this book is for the academic mind, dense in dates and names, it does provide a solid overview of the history of African-American people from the Transatlantic slave trade until the end of the American Civil Rights movement. An overall interesting read that also aids to contextual use current events in American politics and culture.
