One week to interview a rock band. One week to give my heart away. One week to get my heart broken. One week, to change my life forever.
Music journalist Dylan Sanders’ childhood was filled with famous musicians aiming for the stars. She grew up on a tour bus following her brother and his band Renegade across the world. Leading a life filled with rock and roll, and broken promises.
Ten years later, she’s heading down a different path, and left more than just River Soul, the hot as sin guitar player who broke her heart behind. Waking up naked in her London apartment, sharing her bed with Axton Taylor, the drummer of the world-famous band, Seconds to Midnight, she interviewed the night before, love takes an unexpected turn.
Dylan has to make a choice. Will she follow her heart, having promised herself never to take that rock and roll ride again? As Dylan’s dark past catches up with her, two men will fight for her heart, and will play dirty to get her.
Told in alternating timelines, Dylan Sanders takes us through a sordid - and heartbreaking - history on the road with Renegade and her present as a reporter with a leading magazine covering Seconds to Midnight’s tour.
I was so engrossed in Dylan’s story that I didn’t even realize I’d reached 100% until I saw the “Thanks for reading.” There were parts of this story that were difficult to read, even when you knew what was coming. Honestly, I was actually a little nervous going in knowing that there are two male love interests. However, it didn’t bother me in the ways that I expected it to. Right now, I am just desperate to see what happens next.

So grateful to have been given the opportunity to read an ARC of this book! Please read the trigger warnings and do not take them lightly! This book ignited, once again, my 5sos era and I am not upset about it! Rockstar romance through and through. I am intrigued by River and also hate him for the things he did to Dylan. I definitely look forward to the rest of this series
I have mixed feelings about this story! It could've been so much more than it is but I hope that second part brings the missing pieces for it to be an amazing story!
The Page In Between follows Dylan Sanders. Her story is told in past and present timelines about coming full circle in the life of sex, drugs, rock ’n’ roll and all the heartbreak that comes along with it.
Dylan's story's is very dark, messy, raw, gritty and sexy. It’s filled with a wide range of emotions and this is a story that put me through it all. But, what a hell of a ride. Dylan, both in the past and present, is strong, intelligent and has always had her head on her shoulders. But she's been immersed in this rock ’n’ roll lifestyle throughout most of her life. Now, at 17/18 years old, her story takes us through 2 very different men that hold her heart. In the past, that man is River. Her first love and he's the epitome of a bad boy. He’s definitely the man that she should stay away from but, being young, she's blinded by love of the things she would rather not see. Loving a self-absorbed rockstar has massive consequences and some hefty prices because eventually, her world falls apart.
Axton is the man in her present. 10 years later, he's this new-profound love. He may be from this same world, but he's absolutely incredible, sweet, ans sees her beauty and worth. Where Dylan experiences two very different love stories, this was her own journey as well. From the young woman who went through her own sets of heartbreak and learning, who was riddled with demons and pain. Now to the woman she is in the present, who's done so much healing, growth and is living her life on her own terms as a successful music journalist. However, when the past and the present come face to face for Dylan, will she risk it all again, not only on herself but her heart and choose the love that she's always meant to have….
I loved every minute of Dylan's story. The extra layers of meeting the bandmates in the past and the present, the deeper special connections within her family, and I'm ready for part 2 ans to see what the future holds for Dylan.
Thank you to L.A. for the ARC! 😘
Please check your TW there's, some heavy subject matters, some that are on page. 🖤
ARC Review of The Page In Between Part One by L.A. Wayward * * * * * It is only the beginning of this wild and crazy mess and I am loving it.
Dylan had been in love with one of her brother's bandmates for so long, sharing a tour bus with him and seeing him use silly bimbos and models like tissues should put her off, but he has a hold on her. She's captivated by him and he knows it. He latches onto it. Dylan is thriving in the lifestyle of her rock star friends and brother, doing many things a good girl shouldn't...that is until one tragedy turned everything upside and had her running away from all the crazy. Away from River. Ten years later she is making a life for herself, trying to avoid the band - particularly one person. It was all going well...until she wakes up in bed with Axton Taylor! A hot rockstar! Younger than her. Very attractive. Very athletic...in the bedroom. Plus, he's making his intentions clear towards her, and she is kinda loving it. However, the past has a way of popping up. Particularly the part - or person - you have been trying to avoid for so long.
Drama! Drama! DRAMA! It's steamy and sad and hopeful. Dylan's unhealthy obsession with River and its turn really makes a change on her and I am happy for that, as she gets older she knows to do better and how to handle any advances. Onya girl! However it really makes her guarded towards other men, especially Axton, and the wall only gets higher when the past comes back. Happy the author put up a few major issues in the book that surround the world Dylan lived in during her youth and how much it changed her. Can't wait to see what is coming in Part Two!
Trigger Warnings include: sexual assault, dubious consent, drug use, and suicide (everything in full detail, on page)
There’s no hesitation with this one! We jump RIGHT into it. All the dark and dirty. I didn’t include those trigger warnings lightly folks! “In full detail” is not an exaggeration! Dylan grew up on her brother’s tour bus with his band. And she spent all that time crushing on the lead guitarist. No matter what crap River pulled, or who he slept with, that crush survived. But now, it’s been ten years, and she’s living her own life. Now instead of touring with bands, she interviews them. Which is how she ends up waking up with a lovely stranger in her apartment. And how she ends up having deja vu when Axton asks her to join his band on tour. I was an instant fan of Axton! He’s protective, thoughtful, kind. He may have a dominant side, but it’s still very sweet. And he is always playful! Axton is also proof that Dylan deserves better! My heart aches for her, and the pain she carries around. After being disappointed by he-who-shall-not-be-named (I wanna punch him! Just beat the tar outta him!), should I prepare myself for heartbreak because of how much I LOVE Axton?! Every time Liz includes a letter in one of her books, I lose it! And her playlists are always perfect! You have NO idea how relieved I am that this isn’t a scary cliffhanger!
My Favorite Quotes: • “I can’t get enough of you.” • “Remember, that’s my backstage pass hanging around your neck.” • “You, babe, I see you.”
7/10 Dirty Birdy 6/10 Age Gap 6/10 Forced Proximity 6/10 Tearjerker
Rockstar Romance with all the gritty rawness behind the scenes!
This book delves into some heavy issues so check the TW beforehand if you need it.
We meet Dylan who at the age of fourteen starts traveling on tour with her older brother John who's the lead singer of the Renegades and the rest of his band mates. She bouncing between her younger years with the band and her crush on River to the present where she's a journalist interviewing bands now.
You see how chaotic this lifestyle is for all involved with drug use, depression, loneliness, over the top hookups that leads to a tragic incident. Dylan cuts off her relationship with musicians after her life is flipped upside down. She's determined to never date or fall for another Rockstar until she meets Axton a hot as sin Australian drummer who makes her feel alive again. Things are never as easy as Dylan hopes them to be so there are a lot of ups and downs with lots of wild steamy moments and an incident that leads to a cliffhanger.
Definitely can't wait to see what the next one brings now!!
There’s something about L.A.’s writing towards fictional bands that I greatly enjoy. If you’ve read Make It Burn, you’ve come to realize that she shines while creating a world within the music industry - a trope I’m not necessary picking up on a regular basis while reading; however, I’ve learned that when L.A. writes a book, you read it and the odds of you loving it are very high.
In this story, we fluctuate between past and present - the past being when Dylan is 17 and on tour with her brother’s band and falls for the older guitar player, River. The present being that band reinvents themselves and Dylan is faced with a situation where past meets present. There’s conflict and a rivalry that is just at the very beginning in this book.
We are at the beginning stages of a love triangle between Dylan, her past and her present. Who will she choose when all is said and done? There’s angst, and music, and spice and characters I really liked. And River is just hot.
I cannot wait for the next book to get the answers I’m so looking forward to.
Thank you to LA Wayward for this arc in exchange for an honest review
PLEASE CHECK THE TRIGGER WARNINGS! There are some heavy topics in this story.
Dylan is on the road with her brother's band. She's caught up in everything rock n' roll that she doesn't see what's going on around her. She wonders if she'll ever find someone to actually love her. Her crush doesn't see her how she wants him to. What happens when he does?
Handling a bunch of musicians must be hard. All they seem to do is party. I will admit that it's hard to crush on someone who will never love you back. The cake scene was nice. Axton is the sweetest man. What he did to her apartment was adorable. He's like a puppy and I absolutely love it. I adore both of her brothers. I hate River.
I would have loved to hear Axton's perspective too. This wasn't what I expected. I wanted a little more with this one. We'll see what happens in part 2.
The Page in Between Part 1 Authour L.A Wayward @lawaywardauthor
“You’re mine, little one, and always will be.”
"I’m torn. Is he really asking me to stay, or am I just another drug? What happened felt like a rush we both wanted to chase."
"This guy makes me lose track of my thoughts in a second. I’m never lost for words, but with him, everything I thought I knew about myself flies out the open window."
“I know this doesn’t make any sense to you, but I want you." You want me?” His lips graze mine. “Yes, I do,” he whispers. A shiver runs through me when he stares at me and growls. Inhaling deep, then with a much lower voice, he asks, “Million-dollar question is, do you want me?”
I knew as soon as I saw Rockstar Romance I would fall in love with this book and I was right. This is my second Rockstar Romance written by L. A and it is just as unique as the first one I read.
So much to unpack with this book and it's only the beginning. I laughed and cried and I felt so much for our leading lady Dylan. She has been through so much thought out this book and I'm sure there is more to come.
I just love the style of writing. The jump between past and present keeps me on my toes and I don't want to put the book down. It also keeps the mystery of the story alive. This is why I don't want to say too much about the book as I want to keep the mystery alive.
I already know who my favorite man is and I hope beyond belief it works out between him and Dylan. I can't wait to see where the next book will lead Dylan. I really need her to have a happy ending because she deserves it.
Part one of a story that grabbed me from the first chapter. L.A. Wayward's writing is never short on the steam, but it never takes away from the deeper story being told.
I love stories that involve music, and this one is no different. When a woman walks away from the life of rock and roll only to come right back to it's door step has her questioning everything she ever thought she wanted. One choice could have her right back in rock and rolls grasp with a man she is falling for, or it could have her walking away again with pain lingering in her heart.
I can't wait to see what part 2 holds. Thank you L.A. Wayward for an arc of this book.
There are trigger warnings to check before going into this such as drug use.
I have absolutely no triggers but some books are heavier than others and this book would be one of them. This book was raw and gave me emotions I didnt know I had. Dylan had a strength I dont know if I could have handled the things she was dealing with. This book truly takes you on a journey. This book will give you moments of pause or moments of heart break. This has loss in it and it has drug use Ms. Wayard did not shy away from the details. Be prepared for this book. Make sure you read the trigger warnings.
I loved this book so much! Immediately ran and ordered the paperback! I had to have it! And it’s only part 1!!!!
So many emotions in this book! I love Dylan! Her struggles of the past have caught up with her when she finally lets in someone new! What a whirlwind!
I’m so torn with my emotions for River! And I loved Axton from the very beginning! And I know Dylan has her demons to work through but damn I can’t wait for more!
I am so looking forward to more after that cliffhanger! It left me with so many questions and of what could possibly come in the future between Dylan ,River and Axton!
Ok, I flew through this book and I need more. My heart hurt for Dylan and yes I was crying at points. Yet again L.A has dealt with some tough subjects so beautifully and carefully. Ax made me lol, he is the biggest man child but so loving towards Dylan. Don't even get me started on River. I loved him and hated him all at the same time. I can't wait to see what happens in part 2. Eagerly awaiting for that to drop in my inbox!
This book deals with some heavy topics, so please check the trigger warnings.
Poor Dylan my heart hurts for her. I mean, how much can one person handle?
𝒴𝑜𝓊 𝓈𝓉𝒾𝓁𝓁 𝓉𝒶𝓈𝓉𝑒 𝓉𝒽𝑒 𝓈𝒶𝓂𝑒, 𝒷𝒶𝒷𝑒.
Please give my girl Dylan a happy ending, because if anyone deserves one, it's her.
Honestly, L.A. Wayward has a way with words; she pulls you into her stories and tears your heart out, but I just know that when Part 2 comes, she will piece it back together.
When I say that I'm impatiently waiting for part two, I'm not kidding. I'm truly obsessed with Dylan x Axton, but I love a second chance romance if dirt bag Rivers can clean up his act and treat Dylan the way she deserves.
Since the age of fourteen Dylan's been in the world of touring city to city with her brother's band, alcohol, drugs, and having a crush on lead guitarist and manwhore River soul. She and River had that living on the edge ,toxic, emotionally draining type of love but love non the less but when he rips her heart to shreds ,she's rocked by the pain of loss and she spirals until she hits rock bottom she decides its finally time to choose herself..........to love herself. Fast forward ten years and Dylan finally has her life on track and has her dream job, I absolutely love that she found the strength to overcome all the obstacles in her life and claim the life she wanted to live. Though skeptical ,the prospect of a new love with Axton is like a breath of fresh air in her life , he's so easy to fall in love with , he's charming, has a witty sense of humor their banter was amazing but when things are good life has a way of throwing you a loop because as soon as she decides to take a leap towards love her pass comes barreling through in the form of River Soul reigniting all her suppressed feelings and with both men staking a claim it's clear neither man is leaving without a fight. I can't wait for part two
*WARNING* Keep scrolling if you don’t want to read any spoilers from this book.
To be quite honest, this was a little predictable, so even the supposed dramatic parts weren’t a surprise. With all the drugs the characters were consuming along with alcohol, I wasn’t at all surprised people OD’d, and I KNEW someone was going to commit suicide. Even if L.A. Wayward didn’t alert readers of the trigger warnings, I just knew how it would go down. That being said, I liked the love triangle aspect of the story because you could feel the genuineness and kindness of Axton towards Dylan, verses River still acting the same way when he and Dylan see each other again. You know he’s not good for her, and a part of me hopes he’ll find a way out of his drug addiction, but I still want her to end up with Axton! After only meeting the night before, he treated her 100x better than River did 10 years ago! He was respectful of her, he actually cared about her feelings when they finally did it; like asking her if she was ok or even if she needed to stop. Because her one other sexual experience was with River and not only were they both high when they did it, but when she realized she didn’t want to continue anymore and told him to stop, he didn’t. He just told her to take it and kept pushing into her. She cried because she knew that’s not what love was. He got off, but when he realized she didn’t, he just took care of her with his fingers. He was an ass. On top of that, she had been clean for a bit but he pushed some drugs up her nose and she didn’t realize till later that it wasn’t coke or heroine, but fentanyl. I don’t know how you’re supposed to react to those drugs, but she obviously could tell the difference and couldn’t understand what she was feeling. What was interesting was that for a split second in her hallucinations she saw a one-eyed cat with an Australian accent. And the reader already knows that present day Dylan has a one-eyed cat AND Axton is from Australia. So that was a little…hmmmm moment. 🤔 I rated it a 3 because drugs and alcohol have always made me feel uncomfortable, so when a huge chunk of the book is focused on that…😬 But I still want to know what happens between Dylan, Axton and River when their bands hit the road together! Maybe River will redeem himself in some way…
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I LOVED THIS!!! As usual L.A. Wayward basically throws you on a crazy ride of emotions and non-stop ups and downs. This time it is following Dylan Sanders, music journalist, from her teen years traveling with her older brother and his rock band on tour to 10 years later where she wakes up in her flat with a hot man by her side. With the exception of being famous musicians, River Soul and Axton Taylor could not be more different. River is definitely arrogant and its entirely possible I wanted to punch him 😜 (I'm hoping he redeems himself a little.) But, Axton had me with his sense of humor and how much he seemed to really enjoy being around Dylan. She has her work cut out for with these two in the mix!
There are definitely a couple situations that are a bit darker, in the emotional sense, and the topics playing out on the page. But, they were really important to understanding Dylan and how she ends up where she is in the present. The back-and-forth time swaps were so good! I actually went back through and re-read this because not only did I really like it, but after I first starting writing this review, I was so engrossed in looking at quotes I felt like I needed to re-experience it 🤣
✨Quick Notes - TL;DR✨ Rockstar Romance Love triangle Age gap I would consider it a forced proximity situation Not a stand-alone Told from Dylan’s POV Just a smidge of a cliffhanger TWs- drug & alcohol use, suicide. Listed beforehand
Star Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Spice Level: 🌶 Darkness Level: 💀
⚠️ Suicide, wild partying, illegal drug use, underage drinking and drug use, forced drug use, possible OM situation, dub-con (classed by author, I would consider non-con)
There are a few tropes I struggle with, simply because I don't love them. Rock star romances are one of them.
I want to preface by saying that I enjoy the author's books. I love her writing; she's very good at evoking emotions, her characters are always very realistic, and I'm always left feeling satisfied at the end.
I had a bit of difficulty getting into this one at first. This is due to not loving this trope and is no fault of the author's. Once I did, though...I couldn’t put it down as I got swept up in the story.
I was so not ready for it to be over, and now I'll have to wait very impatiently for the next golf of the duet!
There are some difficult themes in this book, which the author handles with sensitivity. Dylan, the FMC, looks like she might get pulled in two directions. I can't wait to see how her story will end.
Another emotional and riveting story from L.A. Wayward! I could not put this book down, it was action packed, and sleepless night worthy. Dylan is touring with her brother's band and secretly crushing on River, but being a young woman on a tour bus with the dangerous and forbidden partying that takes place, she is placed in some crazy situations. My heart broke for Dylan, her unrequited love, her family life, the devastation she has witnessed and has been a part of. Ax is good for her though. I loved his easy banter and witticism. His easy going nature will hopefully be a very positive presences for Dylan. But that ending, oh my... I can't wait for more of their story 💚
Drugs, sex and rock n roll and all the bad thing that go with the lifestyle. Another emotionally driven story that hits you in the gut from so many angles. With Dylan's past and present colliding with Ax and River they are setting up for one hell of an explosive event coming up.
