A strong level 2 reader's book, my 5 yr old loved reading it to me. He stopped frequently to give me little tidbits he knew about the autobots, which made the book seem much longer than it was. I tried to tell him I was already well-informed with the Transformers but he was so excited, it didn't matter. A great book to get new beginner readers to read.
Robot Roll Call: Early reader science fiction book This book goes through the robots of the Autobots and the Decepticons. Each of them has their own personality and power. I didn’t really like this book. It was an okay book, but I am not into robots. I would recommend this book to elementary students. Robots might peak their interest and they could easily read it with a little bit of help from an adult. I’m not sure if there is diversity or not. They are robots, so I’m not sure how to categorize robots to see if they are diverse or not. They are all different, so I guess it is a little bit diverse.
While the text is actually pretty well done and provides a basic introduction to the cast of the Transformers Animated series, the art is absolutely horrendous. There are recycled images throughout and, in the single two page splash with a background, lazily pasted in as well. The best I can say for it is that on rare occasion they elected to flip the image so the character was facing in the opposite direction.
Kids won't care but adults will realize they did this as cheaply as possible and look elsewhere.
Kids, particularly boys, can enjoy this baseball-card-like book with biographies of the various good and evil Transformers Animated characters. Did our new reader like it?Go here to find out.
