Droids is revoltin’ in Mega-City One – and they’re also turning against the human populace, yukyukyuk! That means Dredd’s outta his usual weaponry and he’s gotta save the life of a bestselling teen author from the rioting robots with just his mitts and wits. No Lawgiver. No Lawmaster. No problem. Also, clones for some reason?!

Ah, Judge Dredd – my teen idol! How I wish I could read an excellent Dredd comic but I seem shit out of luck in general when it comes to reading anything decent these days! So it goes with Duane Swierczynski’s second Dredd book featuring The Long Fail storyline.

Nothing that special happens in what amounts to a forgettable and mundane Dredd story. Neither Dredd nor the other judges ever feel like they’re in any danger. Tying it into the clones from the first book threw me a bit as it’s been yonks since I last read that one. And the whole thing unsatisfyingly closes out with a non-ending “to be continued” on the last page. Booooo – to the iso-cubes with ye!

Still, ol’ Duane hits me in the nostalgia nads pretty hard with all the bells and whistles of classic Dredd. The daffy block names (Urban-Garland Block), the hapless character in tow to the unstoppable Dredd, the many pop culture references in the background (Kundle e-books), and the silly character of the droid created in the image and personality of real-life crime writer James Crumley!

I likes checking in with Dredd every now and then but the chances of him appearing in a comic worth reading are unfortunately as rare as seeing him without his helmet!

Somehow it reads as yet another dystopian fascist state story with some humour. But not as a Dredd story. It definitely lacks some sharpness and coldness to qualify.

Another good volume! This time around, there's been a black out in Mega city one, Judge Dredd has to now dispense justice without any weapons! This volume was pretty entertaining! Artwork is still the same cartoony artstyle which is cool. The one weakness however which made me drop this series eventually, was that after a certain thing happened, in vol 1, they kept dragging that thing out! I mean they use it as a plot device even! How i see it, in the next volume you can reference what happened in the last volume, but don't drag it on! But overall another entertaining volume!

Judge Dredd, Vol. 2 kicks off after the previous book with 'The Long Fail' which which is ostensibly about a Robot rebellion! :D This then all ties in together with the Clone storyline that leads to some very icky consequences for Anderson and Dredd! :D

The plot pounds along at a great pace with Dredd confronting deranged Droids left and right while Anderson takes on the psychic route! :D Judge Dredd, Vol. 2 really show how Dredd and Anderson really work brilliantly together as a team! :D The way that the story spreads across Mega City One but as the same time they keeping the coordination between them going really works brilliantly! :D Crumley, Myers etc provide the comic relief throughout and this gives the book it humour Dredd's reaction to them are hilarious! :D

The script it brilliantly served by the art style that is sharp and focused but at the same time captures the humour of events and really go to town with the script meaning you will ever get complacent guessing where the story is going! :D The panels change in clever ways flipping between the divergent storylines brilliantly really capturing the feel of the story and characters! :D

Judge Dredd, Vol. 2 set things up brilliantly for the next book taking Dredd out into the cursed Earth which is sure to be eyebrow raising! :D Judge Dredd, Vol. 2 is witty throughout, full of cutting edge social commentary, full of in jokes (Urban-Garland Block! :D Lol) and action packed throughout brilliant and clever and highly recommended! :D

Book 2 of the Judge Dredd stories by IDW starts with beginning of The Long Fail. Robots and other mechanisms are starting to rebel and fail, putting the lives of the citizens of Mega City One in danger. Even Dredd's Lawgiver is malfunctioning. By the end of the volume, Dredd has to leave the city and go out into the Cursed Earth in pursuit of the robots who have stolen the means for the city to survive.

Overview: Mega-City One is more chaotic than ever in this second volume of the series, with frequent technical malfunctions. Enemies of the judges who want to govern the megacity are sabotaging what ensured a minimum of organization. Dredd and his team of judges will be met by blackouts, explosions, radioactive spills, and other unpleasant events.
Anderson plays a crucial role in this book, in which judges are denied access to the technical system. Without a way out, Dredd is forced to battle foes the old-fashioned manner, without weapons, a vehicle, or a communication system.

Pros: The graphics are fantastic and the action scenes are breathtaking.

Cons: I believe in Dredd's abilities, but sometimes he appears to be invincible to the point of being almost immortal.

This second entry into the series hits the mark. Rampaging robots, tech failing all around the city leaving its residents and the Judges handicapped and Dredd left alone to sort out a city on the verge of anarchy. This is Dredd at his best. No werewolves, space aliens or stunt casting of other comic book characters. Just Dredd, Mega-City One and the law. Add in the exaggerated, retro artwork and loud coloring with muscular dialogue and we have one of the best Dredd series in ages and a book all comic-book fans should read. Also, it ends with Dredd going into the Cursed Earth which - as any Dredd fan should know - promises actions, storylines, and adventure for all the ages.

The robot revolution is upon us! And I love how this volume lets us see the day-to-day lifes of Mega City One citizens. Although I did not entirely like the writing, sometimes text bubbles just repeated a lot that was already said in the story, but the funny moments or context droid inputs were good. However, the stories that were in this volume were really cool. A mutant that sees three different futures, the uprising of robots, ... The art of each issue/story was a little different but all of them were in my view excelent.

More Dredd. Dredd is Dredd. You either love it or you ignore it. Rather enjoying how this American series is almost rewriting the original early Dredd storylines (Robot Revolution, Cursed Earth) for a more mature audience.

Second volume just as good

Really enjoyed all the action in this volume. The side characters are really good in this volume. The story is fun and the art style hits the right amount of balance for me. Would highly suggest if you're a fan of Dredd.

кішечка ще не втягнулася, але в процесі.
коли трохи звикнути до вирвиочного арту, стає помітно, що він технічний і вигадливий.
знову хочу похвалити вставні історії, вони, принаймні, трохи кумедні.

Not as focused as Vol 1

Not as focused as volume 1, but still a good read. Story and art are both nice

Worth a punt if you like Dredd

This was still really really good. Yes it is a slightly Americanised Dredd and I am no longer sure where it fits in cannon but it rocked. The writing was taut and pacey, there was no let up. Dredd was still treated as an unmoving icon, a rock a a world where everything else is fluid. They got his character right. The action was OTT and fun and the design of a future metropolis spot on.
I liked the satire and comment on a world too addicted to tech.
The art was wonderful. It was full of action but also stark and lovely to look at.
I enjoyed this a lot.

The events of the last volume come to a head in this one, with the machine revolution in full swing and the judges under siege from every quarter. The story picks up steam here and gives the overall book a bit more weight. Interspersed with the tales of Dredd’s adventures are brief snapshots of life in the awful future. Particularly great is the tale of the loyal robot butler who was shut down when the machine uprising began, and wakes to find the robots around him murdering everyone.

This second volume, like the first, is fairly entertaining but not anything to write home about. I hoped that "The Long Fail" would be great, a step up from volume 1, and lock me into reading these new Dredd adventures long-term but I think I'm moving on from here.

Judge Dredd (volume 2) was just entertaining. It wasn't the best read, not the best storyline, but it was fun to read.

While fun and tongue and staying quite true to the spirit of the old comics, there's really not all that much to keep me interested enough to continue through the overarching story.

Much better than the first Volume of these. But then again, the shorties among the main storyline were pointless.

"The Long Fall" story concludes here where the droids of Mega-City One rebel in amusing ways and Dress must figure out how and why (mostly via shooting and punching). It works.
