David "Dav" Pilkey (b. March 4, 1966), is a popular children's author and artist. Pilkey is best known as the author and illustrator of the Captain Underpants book series. He lives near Seattle, Washington with his wife, Sayuri.
From the beginning till the end, this 4th installment in this graphic novel series will make readers burst out laughing of how funny the plot and the scenes are. I even re-read it right away just to make sure I remember the story. 😂
My 6-year-old son loved this book. There's not much I can say about it. The story-telling style was fun and it was possible to find a few good lessons in here. Of course, the silly name generator was the highlight. (I am Stinky Bubble-Tush.)
Dear Gidget Hamsterbrains, After we finished reading this book, my son said, "Let's read it again." "No." I said. "Then let's read the next one," he said. "No, let's read In Grandma's Attic," I said.
He doesn't want to read In Grandma's Attic. You are spoiling him.
Yay the fourth book is done. I have seen the Captain Underpants movie (the first one that came out) and it had Professor Poopypants and the Terrible Toilets....I'm pretty sure, so I was familiar with the outcomes of the two stories, however I loved the extra bits that wasn't included in the movie. Like, when Professor Poopypants makes everyone change their names to be as silly as his or he would shrink them. Mine ended up being Pinky Gigglepants, that is actually cute and I think I will continue to call myself that from now on. Maybe tomorrow I'll tell my students at school to call me that too!
If you don't mind silly potty humor and you love reading to your kids...these books are hilarious.
Poor Professor Pippy Pee-Pee Poopypants can’t catch a break as a new elementary school teacher because of his unusual name. Harold, George and the rest of the kids simply cannot stop laughing at him—so he devises a plan! But, in creating this master scheme he becomes the bad guy, and as my Mom would say, “The baddies NEVER win.” Therefore, Captain Underpants must come to the town’s rescue!
Under the Professor Poopypants rule my new name would be “Pinky Gizzard Fanny” what would yours be?
Of course I also love the traditional Flip-o-Rama section! It’s probably my favorite part of Pilkey books! It brings back so much nostalgia from my childhood!
I absolutely love Dav Pilkey, but I prefer the “Dumb Bunnies” and “Dog Man” books rather than these but still a good time. I plan on reading the others as soon as I get a chance to pick them up!
Cool book.... Captain underpants and the Perilous plot of professor poppyants is a funny book. When the book pop out from the parcel I was shocked that I haven't seen this superhero ever actually the best superhero and funny also 😉😂😂................. By Dav Pilkey....It is about George and Harold. As always they are always funny and mischievous😉😂😂😛
Both the movie and this book series is just so amusing.
Having discovered the film first, it's been fun to go back to the book. They appear to have taken elements from most of the books but what stood out for me was the protagonist Professor Poopypants.
A light read, but fans of Superhero's will easily find enjoyment.
Me & my 7 year old read this together. It’s written in a really humorous & interactive way that all young readers would enjoy. He loved it, and I’ve had to rush out to buy the other books!
This is another hilarious book in the Captain Underpants series by Dav Pilkey. Our girls really like these books and insist on reading them independently (so I don't have the excuse that I read the book with them, but I enjoyed reading it, too!) The humor is quite juvenile and the storyline is very predictable, but we all really liked it. Our girls especially like the Flip-O-Rama pages, and they had a blast figuring out all of our new silly names (henceforth I shall be known as Gidget Bananahiney.)
All in all, I find these stories to be very entertaining and perfect for getting reluctant readers to learn to love books. We will certainly move on to the next story very soon.
This book was actually so fun to read again. Captain Underpants was a childhood favorite, and the reread did not disappoint. The writing is so witty and unique. I felt engaged the entire time while reading and it was just a nice change from what I usually read. I think I used to be embarrassed to admit that I liked Captain Underpants as a child because it seemed "uncouth" or "ungirly" just because of the title. But like.... whatever. Who cares. It's really not that deep. These books are actually such masterpieces.
I did not really like this book because I don't like all of the super-duper long names like " The Perilous Plot of Professor Poopypants" and "Shrinky-Pig 2000 ". There also was also a "very giant hamster bot" that tried to crush George, Harold and Captain Underpants.
A literary work of genius. Pilkey’s use of imagery to describe a pair of undergarments worn by an education administrator is simply sublime. The metaphor behind the archetypal villain and a pair of trousers that have been defecated in is not only comparable to the reality we live in but relatable for timeless generations. His use of hypnotism to describe the transformation of mild mannered man to a hero of Biblical proportions is an allegory I will not soon forget. I grant this book 5 stars a sixth if I were so inclined. A work of art. A masterpiece.
It was another Captain Underpants book. I didn't think it was as strong as the last one, but it was better than the one before that. It had some charming moments, but I also didn't care for the plot even if the little one had a blast with the name change charts.
Captain underpants and professor poopy pants by Dav Pilkey, is a comic with funny characters. I love the captain underpants books because their comics and flip o rammas are radical. The books about a professor moving from this town that has ridiculous names, he ends up at the school and the kids make fun of his name. I think all people should read this book because the comics are amazing and the books are pretty easy to read.
The fourth book (and third book for me) in this series. This time a professor with an original name and his plans to take over the world (though I totally was cheering him on).
I have to say I liked this one less than the previous books I read. It had to do with the teachers (this is definitely not what you do to your students/pupils, I know it is exaggerated, but it still was just too much for me. What terrible teachers, they shouldn't be working there at all.). But it also had to do with the name calling. I rather liked the fact there was a country that made up their own names and had silly/weird names. But the poor man was bullied, with his new and old name. He didn't even do anything wrong, he was patient, sweet, kind, and all he wanted was to show those kids how awesome science could be. I know, I know, I shouldn't take it serious, but for some reason I couldn't help but being very pissed at the kids and everyone around that professor.
So yeah, instead of cheering for the good guys to win.... I was rooting for the professor to get his revenge. Yep, I was rooting for the baddie. Though, then again, he wasn't necessarily evil, he just snapped. I did like his revenge plan, and how (hilariously) people were unhappy. See, you don't like it to be bullied with your name, then don't do it to others. Also the shrinking of the school was an excellent plan.
I loved the pranks (not the name calling) by George and Harold (or should I say Fluffy and Cheeseball). They should just ask their parents to move to another school, one that doesn't mind imagination and instead will motivate and stimulate the brains of these 2 kids.
On the one hand I am not too happy with the mistakes in the comics (it does get a bit old), but on the other hand it does fit the age of the duo.
I also loved that little kid that made its appearance twice in this story, and what he said/did during those two appearances. :P
Then there is the fourth wall breaking and that is just my favourite thing in this series.
Captain Underpants is also a brilliant character, it is just a shame that for most of the time he isn't around.
So I hope that the next book has a bit better plot/less bullying, I can't wait to see what villain we get next time!
April is coming to an end and I'm not even sure if I have read anything. Well, slump is slowly fading... or not. Busy with school lately, and beside who would resist a fun childhood book full of memories?
When I read this book it had a lot of funny thing like in a part of George and Harold were not going to a field trip because there old mean principle Mr Krupp caught them doing bad thing. SO Mr Krupp said they needed to stay and clean the teacher lounge room so George and Harold clean but put something to the teacher when came back. When the teacher came back from the trip they went to the teacher lounge room and had a big surprise the teachers open some thing up but did not know that the water was on and go wet and then the another teacher opened another thing and got dirty some teachers went running so that was the best part of the store.
This one was fun and is heavily featured in the movie. The animators did a great job bringing the artwork to life. And if you've heard kids watch or read this, you know they think "Poopypants" is truly the funniest name ever. If you've done or watched any improv type shows with fake names, you might know adults often find it funny too.
I love how the author takes what he experienced as being a kid labeled with ADHD and turned it into books which all kids can enjoy.
