"Why do I feel so tired and drained?" You're not alone if you're constantly asking yourself this question. Exhaustion is epidemic in America and "lack of energy" one of the top five complaints to doctors nationwide. This is because vast numbers of people have lost their connection with the inner energy that is the source of healing and radiant vitality. But now Dr. Woodson Merrell shows us that it doesn't have to be this way. One of the nation's preeminent integrative medicine specialists, Dr. Merrell tackles this problem head on with his long-awaited first book, offering a way to break the fatigue cycle and achieve the abundant energy that leads to true health. Here is his uplifting, proven program -- a breakthrough, six-step, 21-Day Plan for how you can become an "energy creator" rather than an "energy consumer." The Source is the most comprehensive, authoritative, and cutting-edge health guide available on how to power up your energy, your health, and your life. In his more than twenty years of medical practice, Dr. Merrell has discovered core concepts about energy that draw on both Western and Eastern medical knowledge and healing practices. His plan has helped to transform thousands of people's lives physically, mentally, and spiritually to allow them to feel better than ever before. With myriad paths to energy and wellness, Dr. Merrell's plan gives you all the tools you need -- including relaxation practices, a sustainable exercise program, a protocol for detoxifying your body, and organic menus and recipes for each day of the 21-Day Plan. This book really makes you think at points--about what you are putting in your body and how it is processed. It's at this level of contemplation where change can really be planted as seeds that grow out of increased awareness. He's conversational and enthusiastic in his style--a conversationalist with writing, which helps because it's quite scientific at times. And then, in the end, he really ties everything up in a bow with info on music, prayer and other spiritual and emotional practices that are seriously important to overall health. That last section alone won him a lot of bonus points with me, because that is what I witness in elderly people who have aged with grace--a sense of spirituality and an emotional resolve to be positive. Recommended!

Really beneficial reading, I felt that there were some great points that were made with regards to nutrition based in scientific principles to not only assist in weight loss but also in living a healthier cleaner and happier life. I have read this several times and regularly dip in and out of this as it's a great resource for certain nutritional information.

Who isn’t tired these days? How many people do you know who wake up each morning full of energy and continue to be happy and productive all day? Not very many, I’m sure.

Stress, fatigue, obesity have become epidemic problems. As a society, we are sleeping less, eating more junk, and getting less exercise. It’s no wonder really. Have you ever really thought about what we put into our bodies each day? Look at the labels of the food you consume. Can you even pronounce half of the ingredients? The scary thing is that these lists don’t even include information on the pesticides that have been used in the production of these foods or any indication that they have been genetically altered. Not to mention pollution and toxics in the air we breathe, the water we drink, the products we cook our food in.

The Source contains a 21 day program that teaches us to be more mindful of what we put into our body each day. The program includes not only nutrition but also methods for detoxification, exercise guidelines, and the importance of stress relief. Unlike most books of this kind, the author also addresses the issues of emotional release and spiritual connection.
