If I Should Die

Rate this book
I will not lose another person I love. I will not let history repeat itself.

Vincent waited lifetimes to find me, but in an instant our future together was shattered. He was betrayed by someone we both called a friend, and I lost him. Now our enemy is determined to rule over France’s immortals, and willing to wage a war to get what they want.

It shouldn’t be possible, none of it should be, but this is my reality. I know Vincent is somewhere out there, I know he’s not completely gone, and I will do anything to save him.

After what we’ve already fought to achieve, a life without Vincent is unimaginable. He once swore to avoid dying—to go against his nature and forsake sacrificing himself for others—so that we could be together. How can I not risk everything to bring my love back to me?

Amy Plum

Amy Plum is the international bestselling author of the DIE FOR ME series (Indie Next List pick, Romance Times top pick, and recipient of a starred review from School Library Journal). The books have been translated into thirteen foreign languages. The trilogy is accompanied by three novellas entitled DIE FOR HER, DIE ONCE MORE, TO DIE FOR and a compendium entitled INSIDE THE WORLD OF DIE FOR ME.

In DREAMFALL and NEVERWAKE a radical experiment to cure chronic insomnia goes wrong, and its seven teenage test subjects are plunged into a shared coma populated by one another’s nightmares; those who die in the dream will also die in real life.

Amy's action/adventure/magic duology, AFTER THE END and UNTIL THE BEGINNING, received starred reviews from Publishers Weekly, 4 1/2 stars from RT Book Reviews, and enthusiastic reviews from Kirkus, USA Today, ALA Booklist and School Library Journal.

After being raised in Birmingham, Alabama, in a rather restrictive environment, AMY PLUM escaped to Chicago to an even more restrictive environment at a university that expelled people for dancing. (And where she was called to the dean’s office for “wearing too much black”.) After all of that restrictiveness, she was forced to run far far away, specifically to Paris, France, where she only wore black and danced all she wanted.

After five years in Paris, she ventured to London, where she got an M.A. in Medieval Art History, specializing in Early Sienese Painting (1260-1348) mainly because it promised almost no hope of finding a paying job afterward.

Amy managed to find work in the world of art and antiques in New York. But after almost a decade of high-pressure lifestyle in the Big Apple, she swapped her American city for a French village of 1300 inhabitants.

After signing with HarperCollins for the DIE FOR ME series, Amy left her job as an English professor at Tours University to write full-time. She now lives in Paris with her two kids and her black lab, Oberon.

She is a huge fan of Edward Gorey and Maira Kalman (and collects both of their books/art), as well as David Sedaris, Amadeo Modigliani, and Ira Glass.

More Reviews Here: Readers Live A Thousand Lives

I can’t believe I put off reading this one for so long, especially after the ending in Until I Die. This was such a great conclusion and I am so glad I finally got around to reading it. I love Kate and Vincent and I am so glad I was able to experience their story. I also want to take this second to pride myself on completely guessing where the story was going. Yay me. (Note: I originally posted my theories for the ending here on GR and I don't have the heart to delete the whole thing I wrote, so if you do not want to be spoiled do not read past the dotted line after this review.)

Kate has definitely grown over the course of the series and I love that. She has gotten very strong and determined. She knows what she wants from her life and she is willing to do whatever she needs to get it. She is afraid, but she doesn’t let that stop her and I love that.

Then there is Vincent and guys, I figgin love him. He is like the ultimate book boyfriend with all his perfectness and I love it. It is nice to read about guys like that sometimes. He has this perfect balance of faith in Kate, but he still wants to protect her. It’s kinda cute. It’s so funny to watch him get frustrated with Kate putting herself in danger, but still knowing she has to do it. He doesn’t hold her back, but still doesn’t want her hurt.

I just love the relationship between Kate and Vincent because it is so strong. They always have faith in each other and fight for one another. There is no crazy melodrama and doubt for no reason. Also; no love triangle. I’m not opposed to love triangles, but I really just liked that the series was about these two fighting for each other and finding a way to make a life together work.

I also want to mention the secondary characters because there are so many great ones. There is Jules who I just absolutely love and my heart breaks for him. Ambrose who is just so awesome I don’t even have words. He cracks me up! Then there is Charlotte who is another one I love. I love that this series has such a strong secondary cast that you can get behind and fall in love with.

I love the paranormal aspect to this one because it’s pretty different. They are zombie like, but they aren’t really typical zombies. The revenants are just such a unique concept, especially in how they become immortal. This difference is really one of the main things that made me love this series to begin with.

If I Should Die was everything I was hoping for in this conclusion and I couldn’t have asked for more. This series has been so much fun and I was easily swept up in the romance and drama and the city of Paris. Paranormal romance fans, you need to read this one.

I have a theory, and it is probably a stupid theory, but a theory nonetheless. What if Vincent isn't the Champion? What if it is actually Kate? Point 1: Maybe Vincent isn't the one with great communication skills, but Kate, and that is why she can hear him and it isn't that he can make her hear him. I mean have any of the others tried talking to her while they are volant? Point 2: In regards to the Champion being stronger than most. Have we not already learned that Kate is a natural when it comes to fighting? Honestly, from what I have seen, Vincent is good, but no better than his kindred. Point 3: If Vincent is the Champion, why hasn't he come into the role already, since he has been a revenant for eighy-somthing years. Point 4: In regards to the Champion being the one who killed Lucian. While Vincent was possessing Kate at the time, Kate's hand was the one who actually did the killing, so this could be refrencing her. I think we are meant to believe Vincent is the Champion. I think Kate may end up becoming a revenant herself (maybe this is just my wishful thinking for Vincent and Kate to get around the immortality issue) and that she is the Champion. The title even kind of hints to it, by suggesting that Kate may be debating dying herself. Maybe my theory is just me trying to get around that heartbreaking ending, or maybe I am actually on to something. Who knows? I'll probably read If I Should Die next year and then laugh at this crazy theory later, but for now I just needed to rant.

Also, I do not approve of having to wait a year for the next book after a cliffhanger like the one in Until I Die.

Why is the release date so far away?!D:
And with the ending of Until I Die...
COME TO MOMMA ALREADY.
I'd say I hate Amy Plum for:
1. The cliffhanger that made my heart feel like she twisted it out of my chest, stood on and then chewed it apart.
2. THE RELEASE DATE IS UNF SO FAR AWAY UNFUNF:'(
3. Giving me an extremely high expectations in men. I NEED my own Vincent or Jules. I'M BEGGING YOU.

But there is no way I'd ever hate Amy for creating one of my favourite series ever!
JUST PLEASE RELEASE IT NOW.

Just got this for my Birthday! Damn. I guess, its about time we get the Nook Color anyway ... Btw,yes, the screen is cracked ... along with our hearts. (This was chucked across Starbucks, we were asked politely to pick it up, and leave.)

This is what 'Until I Die', made us do ...
Now, we know you're thinking "This chick has some serious anger issues..." But think about this, we read 'Die for Me' , and 'Until I Die', in the same day, back-to-back. So it went something like 'We LOVE you so much Vincent to OMG you're dead?!'

We give up on life. Officially. We're still waiting for 'If I Should Die,' though. Something's definitely wrong with us; but we can't help but hope that maybe ... JUST MAYBE Vincent is alive!

(We cried for like an hour, though.) We don't know, maybe Amy likes misery, and suffering.

Wailing, and patiently waiting for Vincent to come back to us. Wait, does the release date say - May 2013?! Make that IMPATIENTLY waiting for Vincent.

Update - 10/7 : That cover is truly disappointing. Please change it by the time I refresh the page. Thanks.

It's still there ... I guess we're going to have a problem Atom UK. .____.

Dry and soggy at the same time, okay in places but only if you surrender yourself to very minimal enjoyment: that's this book, like overcooked meatloaf. I hate meatloaf, and I've only had it a couple of times (never again) but shit if that stuff isn't nasty. If it's the only edible substance available in the house, then fine, I'll take it and it'll fill me up, but don't expect me to enjoy it.

The best thing these books have going for them is the incredibly original biology and mythology of the revenants. It's really interesting. But if you dilute it with bullshit, then you end up with a lot of bullshit. I loved the first book, the second book was okay, but this one was so unbelievably mundane and expected that I just could not care. Of course Kate became a revenant. Of course they won the battle against the numa. Of course Jules was hopelessly in love with Kate even though she's not really that special or interesting. I never really got why everyone adored her so much in the first place; she's a good lass with a decent brain and a spunky streak, but I wouldn't lay down my life for her. I'd break a light sweat for her, maybe, but nothing more.

It's a passable ending to what should have been a great series. Just don't expect me to rate it higher when you Bury Your Gays. I'm not interested in another book where seas of straight people have happily ever afters and the only queer couple gets mangled in the meat grinder. Jean-Baptiste died in disgrace (I know everyone "forgave" him but there was nothing to forgive; they're all painfully immature if they think that difficult decisions like the one Jean-Baptiste made to protect his kindred amount to treason) and Gaspard is left alone and broken forever. Even Genevieve, who died too, died of her own volition. But Ambrose and Charlotte, Kate and Vincent, Kate's grandparents, and even fucking Arthur and Georgia will frolic away unharmed and live happily ever after.

I get it, kill your darlings. But this is a disturbing trope framed by disturbing context that's frighteningly common in media. And I get that something poignant needed to happen, but could we not have seen Jean-Baptiste reanimate again in a young man's body, and him and Gaspard leave Paris to sort through their shit? Even Charles, who was actually openly fraternizing with numa, got to go to Berlin and heal. But Jean-Baptiste dies and Gaspard is sad and alone and I'm sorry, but I'm not interested in reading about the eternal heartbreak and suffering of queer people, especially when all of the straights get to go home and rest up and live happily. Jesus, Vincent had his body burned and yet he managed to come back to life and live on, and yet Jean-Baptiste is gone forever.

I was not prepared for this and nor will I ever be. Keep your suffering gay storylines like 2657546 feet away from me.

As someone who’s been a pretty big fan of this series from the day Die for Me came out, I had very mixed feelings about this final installment. I’ve spent a lot of time wondering about Kate and Vincent’s fate, and even after a whole year of living with that awful cliffhanger in mind, a part of me was reluctant to have it resolved and let them go – not because I doubted their happily ever after, but because they are so very dear to me.

Although things turned out exactly as I thought they would in the end, there were a few surprises along the way. The story took some pretty unexpected twists and turns and several secondary characters like Kate’s Papy Mercier were given a more important role in the central part of the story. The middle is almost always my least favorite part of a story, but Plum used her excellent sense of pacing and a very interesting ancient ritual to make this middle part riveting.

My only disappointment was the entire situation with Jules. When the intensity of his feelings was brought to light in Die for Her, a Harper Impulse novella, I assumed it would somehow become essential to the story. I can’t say I was looking forward to it since the whole thing promised a world of angst, but I didn’t want it to be neatly swept under the rug either, which is exactly what happened in the end. I dislike storylines that lead absolutely nowhere, and I felt that this one accomplished nothing at all.

Aside from that little setback, If I Should Die gave me everything I’d hoped for. The focus wasn’t on Kate and Vincent alone, but on all the revenants, and as Amy carefully announced on her Facebook page, not everyone got their happily ever after. Some stories ended gloriously, and some brought me to tears.

The final battle of good and evil went down in a very Harry Potter-like fashion, with the Champion (who shall not be named) and the leader of the numa (who shall not be named) fighting surrounded by both their armies. After all the troubles the numa have caused, seeing the bardia united in their effort to conquer evil brought tears to my eyes. It was a very intense scene with a lot of things happening at once – I was shocked when I realized it all happened in no more than 15 pages.

There aren’t many trilogies of the paranormal romance-ish variety I really enjoy, but my whole heart was invested in this one from start to finish, and a huge part of me hates that it’s over, but I am happy with how it all turned out.

*FINAL RATING: 1.15 STARS*

CATCHALL
Yeah, honestly, I don't even know what I wanted to read this book so badly. The first book was okay, the second book was bad, and this book just blew me away…with how absolutely awful it was. I hated it so much I didn't even know what to do with myself. I wanted to love this book, and I really wanted this series to redeem itself because I honestly believed that it could. But it just didn't even live up to the lowest of my expectations.

THE HEROINE
KATE
I have never like Kate and I make no secret about it. She's annoying and makes stupid decisions and she frustrates the living hell out of me. She is literally the most TSTL heroine I have ever read about and I really have nothing good to say about her, which is sad but true. She's stubborn to the point of being irritating and she makes the most ridiculous and stupid choices ever and she just makes me ache for humanity.

THE LOVE INTEREST
VINCENT
Vincent is okay, I guess. I can't really hate him but that's because there's nothing to hate. We only ever see him through Kate's eyes and she really paints him as this cardboard character with no personality whatsoever. I mean, what kind of person is as perfect as she seems to think he is? I mean, he's sweet. He's a gentleman, yet he can be brave. Other than that, yeah. Nothing.

THE OTHER REVENANTS
Or at least two of them
JULES
I love Jules. He's an artist, and he's funny, and he's an amazing friend. Unfortunately, he is also madly in love with Kate, which really doesn't account much for taste. He totally makes an awesome choice in this book as far as I'm concerned though which earned him major points from me.
ARTHUR
Arthur is probably my favorite character. I actually like him. Love him, maybe. He's a total gentleman, and he's definitely kind of old-fashioned, but strangely that makes him kind of sexy. He also does not choose Kate but her better sister Georgia so he obviously has better taste than Jules.

THE PLOT
Honestly, this book had the type of plot that made me want to slam my head into the wall. Repeatedly.

First of all, there were so many "random coincidences" I seriously thought I was ready to tear out the pages individually and burn them. Furthermore, the dumbest things were done. There was one thing in particular treated as a big reveal that was pretty much obvious from the very first book and yet still managed to feel random and stupid.

I can't even describe how mad this book made me. You cannot just randomly make up facts and suddenly throw out new information and then fall back on crutches when you mess up. Making things too perfect is absolutely not okay on any level ever. It's just freaking annoying. It makes things not fit together properly and basically just ends up screwing everything over.

Hello, plot holes, I am falling into you.

I know this section is really short, but honestly if I go on any more than this it will go into a full-on rant in which case I cannot guarantee that I will ever actually shut up. So, I think I've said enough to get my point across.

THE ROMANCE
I am not a huge fan of instalove in the first place, and I honestly don't even get what Kate and Vincent like about each other. Like, the physical stuff, okay, whatever. But that's not love, so I'm still kind of confused here. Their romance is so plain, and ordinary if it exists at all, that I feel like their story isn't an important one to tell. But that's just me.

THE WRITING
I am not a huge fan of the writing. One thing I will say for this book is that the description is really, really nice. Everything is described so vividly and purely that the overall sensation was just really lovely. I love the backdrop of this book, I really do. However, it is runnier by pretty much everything else, including Kate's irritating inner monologue. No one talks to themselves in that kind of language or like that at all.

THE ENDING
The ending was too sweet. While I would say that that's a good thing with a book with an actual plot, in this case it just didn't work. Everything worked out perfectly because the author manipulated everything to be way too perfect and the overall effect just didn't work for me. I just didn't like it and I couldn't buy it and the ending was wrong on so many levels.

WRAPUP
I really regret reading this book and frankly would rather make out with a tiger shark than ever torture myself with this series again. After giving the entire trilogy a go it is unlikely that I will give this author another chance, which is unfortunate, but it is what it is. And I guess you never know. Anyway, if you liked the first two books of the series, you might like this one but honestly I don't know because it was pretty terrible. And obviously I would not recommend this series to anyone. Ever.

FINE.

I don't know why this series is so popular and why it gets such high ratings because this is one of the worst series I have ever read. The only reason I continued with this series is because I have already had the whole set.

Kate is still stupid and immature and she becomes a revenant and Jules was in love with her from the beginning. Seriously? I already didn't like Kate and Vincent's insta love and now Jules.?

The plot keeps getting ridiculous. And everything is tied up nicely in the end which I didn't like and honestly couldn't care less about. I skim read the second half of this honestly.

Reviewer’s Note: For those of you new to the party, Revenants is a series near and dear to a certain heart around these here parts. Just not mine. As I explained in my review of Until I Die:
I was intrigued by all the five star reviews of Die for Me, so I decided to investigate, by asking the one person I know who'd rush out to get Until I Die and devour it in a couple of hours even though it usually takes her a month to finish anything, my little sis, who I'll refer to as Amy Plum's Number One Fan (APNOF) and occasionally Insane Amy Plum Fan (IAPF). She also wanted me to give this one five stars, but I refused.

Moving on, apparently If I Should Die is yet another five star book (obviously from my rating, I disagree), although once again the reasons are... baffling to say the least. Let’s see...

Me: So. If I Should Die. Any good?

APNOF: *gives the are you insane look* If I Should Die is definitely the best of the series! If Amy Plum should happen to read this review, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE write another book or at the very least write a spin off!!

Me: Ok...

APNOF: You know what I mean. There are so many unanswered questions! Like how can Numa become Bardia? Is there more purpose to the Champion than simply defeating Violette? I mean like the Champion is supposed to bring about the New Age and what not, so what other kinds of battles must the Champion face? There are so many more things that the reader is left dying to know (no pun intended). A few new characters were introduced into this book (*cough*Louis). Their characters were briefly touched upon and I would love to know more about their past and more importantly their future. Louis is supposedly a ‘good’ Numa who would rather die than continue being evil, but leave it to Amy Plum to leaves us wondering what happens to him!

Me: *desperately stifles the urge to roll on the floor laughing because Louis is the same age as IAPF so you can put two and two together*

APNOF: *apparently oblivious* ... and might I mention a potential romance between Arthur and Georgia? Really, I'm not kidding when I say that I HAVE to know what happens with all that.

Me: Let's stick to this book. What did you like about If I Should Die?

APNOF: I fell in love with this series since book one and now that it's over, it's like a sudden shock. After Until I Die, I was so worried about Vincent as I'm sure everyone was, but let me tell you it will all be ok and the ending is such an OMG moment because when you reach the end, you finally realize that this is the end and you finally understand everything that has happened and it cumulates into a perfect ending with lots of unanswered questions.

Me: Woah woah woah! Spoilers! Ok. Perfect ending. Lots of unanswered questions. Oxymoron.
Once again, the rest of this conversation contains massive spoilers. Rather than hiding things discriminately with spoiler tags, I’ve left them unmarked. You’ve been warned.

APNOF: *shoots death glare while intentionally avoiding the question* The book starts out where the last one ended. Vincent is visiting Kate while he is volant after his body was taken by Violette. He knows that it is too late for the other revenants to come to his rescue so he tells Kate that he wants to spend his last moments with her. D'awww moment right there.

Me: What the heck is a d’awww moment?
Side Note: I think I threw up a little in my mouth while reading that scene.

APNOF: Hush dummy. Where was I? It was so romantic!

Me: Uh huh. *quickly changes the subject having learned my lesson from that awkward line of questioning about Vincent in the last review* What did you think about Kate?

APNOF: Isn’t she amazing? When everyone jumps into action, but of course they ask Kate to sit out, but, we all know that this is Kate and she won't hear of it. No wonder Vincent likes her!

Me: ...
At this point IAPF wanders off and starts whispering 'so good' to herself over and over while fantasizing over a potential sequel. At least I think that’s what she’s doing...

Honestly, I have no clue why I give these books the ratings I do. They’re nauseatingly romantic, and I don’t do nauseatingly romantic. Like at all. Yet, for all their faults, I can’t bring myself to fault Kate and Vincent. I wonder why...

UPDATE: The name has been released! "If I Should Die"

.....
......
.......
........
.........What?
Uh....

description

Is this because Rachel Vincent's book, If I Die (Soul Screamers #5) came out recently, and Amy Plum was maybe planning on naming this book that?

Update: Cover Reveal: PRETTY. I just wish that stupid heart wasn't around the title. It makes it look uber cheesy.

Update: Oh hey, they changed the cover so the heart isn't around the words anymore. Much better.

If I Should Die is the heart-stopping and heart-pounding final conclusion to the Revenants series by the very talented, Amy Plum. It's action packed plot and wildly romantic story-line will leave you spinning breathlessly till the very last page.
Fresh, tender and passionate, this has been one gorgeous series to loss your heart to. It will be missed!

*REREAD Jan 2020

I would say this was a delightful end to this series. When I first started rereading the series this month I thought it was boring and didn’t think that it was up to all the hype that I originally gave it a few years ago. But, as I read each book I would say the story got even more better in the writing got better as well. So when I say that this is a good ending to this book it is actually true.

With this third book in particular I thought the first part of the book dragged on a little bit at the beginning. It dragged on and it was actually very predictable as well. Since it’s been a few years of me reading it I didn’t remember some of the outcomes of the book, but even me rereading it I realized what the outcomes were just because of the writing style. Very predictable plot at times. In the second part of the book it was so much better than the first. It had a pace to it that was quick but it was effective.

I would definitely say this book in particular had more depth in the book than the other two, and this is just my opinion on the matter.

Overall this was a great book and series. If I could recommend this book I would but is it one of the best out there? Definitely not. I would read this if I want to pass time but I wouldn’t re-read this just because it was the best book out there. I will get this book of 4.0 star rating and I would give this series an overall 3.5 star rating.

Just finished 'Until I Die' and how does Amy expect us to wait so long after such a heart wrenching cliff hanger?

EDIT:
Finally read it!

SPOILERS AHEAD!

I have a bit of mixed feelings about this one. I loved it but there were certain scenes that kind of made me roll my eyes a bit. And unlike the previous two, I was able to put this book down half way through and not pick it up again for a day (which is usually unheard of for me lol)

I don't like how Jules disappeared half way through. I get why he did but I thought it was kind of a cheap way to avoid a love triangle between Vince/Kate/Jules - not that I'm not happy about that, there are too many love triangles these days (props to Amy for keeping it a solid Vincent/Kate with just a bit of love from an outsider and not have Kate suddenly realise she's in love with Jules too) but I just didn't like that Jules left and when he came back it was just a few lines then he was gone again but that's because i LOVE Jules and I have a soft spot for the Jules/Kate scenes but the ones we had at the beginning of the book kind of make up for the lack of we got later on.
(I kind of ship Jules/Kate more than Vincent/Kate lol)

I HATE to say this but I got a bit of a Bella Swan feel from Kate when she became a revenant, like she was made for it like Bella was made to be a vampire but at least Kate was badass at doing it so that wasn't too bad. (not comparing it to Twilight, I just like to read a bit of struggle and angst when a human turns into a supernatural - i don't like the easy adjustment but that's just my person opinion - the book and Kat was still awesome)
I LOVE how Amy managed to make Kate the Champion without making her a Mary Sue. That alone, made up for everything!

But I seriously gasped and wide eyed when Violette killed Kate. I would have loved to read that bit in Vincent's POV.

Best part of the book? Georgia and Arthur. My god. Those two need their own book! I NEED MORE OF THEM! lol

Other mentions:

Charlotte and Ambrose! YAY! He finally sees her! That was heartwarming!
Gaspard I loved in this book and my heart broke for him when JB was killed and I just adored how he stuck to Kate after. That showed the bond they had created while he was training her and it was nice to read.

*****SPOILERS AHEAD*****

4.5 Champion stars!

Holy hell! That was one unbelievable conclusion to such a unique and unforgettable trilogy! I absolutely loved this book! Though there were some things that bothered me that happened and a few things I wished would have happened that didn't. But overall it wasn't enough to keep me from almost rating it a full 5 stars. Wait, I mean I would've given it 5 complete top-notched stars...except for a few things:
I wanted more Vincent-Kate romance. I mean the end....come on you two, you could have gotten outta your clothes and got it on after all the shit you just went through. There was the perfect time, not to mention, place. I guess I should consider this is YA and not NA. But dammit, I can't help myself. I was waiting. Haha okay seriously, so that's a stupid complaint. Or I just read too many sexy novels. Sigh. Oh Vincent, I love you. "Mon ange."

Jules. Okay I get you're in love with Kate. And believe me, I hurt for you, I do. But you're an ass. Seriously? First you abandon your kin at the worst possible time. And then you flee at the first chance you get? Not. Cool. I'm really sorry that Vincent stole your love, but I'm so disappointed in you. He was meant for Kate all along and you just to get over it.

Jean-Baptiste. God, I'm so sorry for your fate. I really admire your sacrifice. You were amazing and I cried for you. Really I cried for Gaspard. How horrible. I can't image his loss and pain. Thanks for being such awesome, loyal friends and protectors to Kate. Every book you guys made me love you more.

The ending was awesome. But. I wish there'd been more. I wanted to see more with Charlotte and Ambrose. I'm so excited for them now and I feel I didn't get enough. Also what about with Georgia and Arthur? I didn't get enough with them. I didn't get enough with Kate and her grandparents. What did they think now with the resolution? With the fate she was dealt?! I wanted an epilogue. Or something that lead me to all their futures. Again. I just wanted more with Kate and Vincent. I was so happy with how things worked out. Sucks that they lost Jules because he couldn't be around them. For God's sake, he's been Vin's best friend for decades and now he can't put his jealousy aside?! Okay sorry, I'm being bitchy. I'm just upset with him. Maybe it'll pass. Maybe not.

Overall, this is a fantastic series and I'm so happy I read them. I'll re-visit this group in the future for my revenant fix. Or maybe just my Vincent-fix.
Oh and I gotta say, Kate is my all-time favorite heroine. She's so fierce and loyal and brave and just all around bad ass!!! I never got mad at her. I never wanted to strangle her. I wanted to actually be her. Or be her best friend. The shit she went through was pretty astronomical. The obstacles she faced were scary and dangerous and she never complained or thought twice. All she cared about was saving those she loved and nothing else mattered, even when her life was in danger. Each book she showed she was more fearless, and determined. More heroines should strive to be like her. Or even half of her.
I can't wait to see what else Amy Plum has up her sleeve. I know it'll be amazing, regardless. And I can't wait! I recommend to all PNR fans. You won't regret it!

NORMAL OBSERVATION:the cover is great, but i kinda wish it was a single bold color like book one or two.
NOT SO NORMAL: why in Gods name is this book coming out in 2013? and did anyone see the suspense in the last book? is she trying to kill us? *screaming at the computer* really? not even a plot.
*pulls hair out* it better not be something like Kate and Jules cause i will rip this book apart so fast my paper shredder would be amazed.*screams running out the door like a crazed person*

Edited Review

okay so the plot just came out and guess what it tells us nothing nothing. it is my honest believe that Amy is trying to kill us with suspense.we all know that Kate will fight to get Vincent back and that he may not be dead so please, for all that keeps us sane, tell us more about this book

If Vincent isn't alive I don't think I'll be able to make it through life. It is completely unfair to make you fall THAT in love with him and then to just tear him away. The least you could have done is give him some kind of fault so that his death wasn't so completely unfair.

Oh My!!! *Sniffles*

I have to admit that I kind of guessed a major part of this story-line, however, when it happened, I was still shocked, surprised and eager to find out how this was going to pan out..

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Vincent and Kate, I love Mamie and Papy and Georgia... I love all the characters - but I didn't expect to be sniffling at how this book ends... I was choked on a few occasions but I didn't see the tears that eventually came!

An amazing trilogy, and amazing ending, a story that started out beautiful and continued to the very last page. Amy Plum writes in such a way that captures my heart from start to finish - a truly fantastic feeling when reading a book, when reading these books!

4.5 stars. Kate is a very, very cool and tough girl. I love reading about her. Drawbacks are the - for me - sometimes slightly too cheesy romance between her and Vincent and the occasionally too high predictability of the story. Still, the plot kept me on my toes anyway, the atmosphere was great and the characters all stayed dear to me.

Thank you so much, Amy!! Especially for one of the 'endings', which fulfilled a wish of mine. I leave this world with a pleasantly mushy heart: Aching a little, but also bursting at the seams.

Oh! Wow! I couldn’t put this book down. Who cares about spring cleaning when an epic battle between good and evil is about to go down?
I loved the small victories that led to the final battle. One victory opens up a new challenge that leads to another victory and so it went until the villain, “Violette”, was defeated in battle.
I really enjoyed it.
