A completely revised and updated edition of A Course in Language Teaching. This book provides a comprehensive introduction to English language teaching and is suitable for teachers in a variety of educational settings, including compulsory education. It has been completely revised and updated to include essential new topics for the modern English language teacher, including English as an international language, Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) and using digital materials. It is ideal for initial teacher training and as a reference guide for practising teachers. The book combines theory and practice, with each unit containing tasks that encourage reflection and discussion, plus action tasks such as classroom observation and practice.
I don't like the format/organization of the book, but it does have a lot of practical teaching information. I like using it to help my PSU interns or practicum students.
This important course provides a comprehensive basic introduction to teaching languages, for use in pre-service or early experience settings. It can be used by groups of teachers working with a trainer, or as a self-study resource. The Trainee's Book provides all the tasks given in the main book but without background information, bibliographies, notes or solutions. It is suitable for those studying on a trainer-led course, where feedback is readily available. A complete introduction to teaching languages. Comprehensive coverage. Ideally suited to those situations where the trainer is available to provide input and guidance.
This is a very accessible introduction to English teaching, and is useful for more advanced teachers too. It's full of practical tips dealing with common problems in easy-to-read language, along with advice for further reading and tasks for teachers to try out to activate the knowledge they've picked up from the book. I know I will definitely be referring to it again and again, and recommending it to other people.
I think it's a nice choice for EFL teachers in the very beginning of their careers. At the same time, it's a bit outdated and too basic for those with more than a couple of years of experience.
A great overview of teaching ESL/EFL. The reflections and activities within each unit are very useful and make this a great textbook for TEFL Certification programs. The only missing part is a great emphasis on assessment of the different skills. However, overall a great introduction and useful book for anyone interested in ESL/EFL.
Well, this is quite a good book. However,,, nothing new. I mean, nothing I have not already experienced,, nothing unusual, or extra. Just .. Commonplace :/
