See You In CCU — A Lighthearted Tale Of My Open-Heart Surgery is the true story of open-heart surgery survivor Steve Ludwig's harrowing ordeal. Told in witty, pun-fifi lled yet poignant style, it is an inspiring account of one man's triumph over heart disease.
I loved this book. One man sees the humor in his experience of open heart surgery. It should be in all cardiologists' office waiting room and read in medical schools throughout the country. Would be a great gift for anyone who has lived through the experience as well.
My Opinion: I enjoyed this book. I can only imagine what Steve went through. As I went through the book, I found myself laughing along with him. I also felt really bad. I have not been through open heart surgery and can only imagine what it was like for him and his family. Steve’s writing is funny and witty. I think this book would be perfect for someone who is sick. Not just someone with heart problems either. I think this book would be good for anyone that was hospital bound and is facing a series illness. You can relate to the author and his writing. It’s down to earth and funny. This book would cheer anyone up. I think it would make a great gift. I also think this should be on every heart wing of every hospital, everywhere. I give See You in C.C.U. by Steve Ludwig 4.5 of 5 Stars.
I was attracted to this book because it reminded me of my ACL reconstruction and rehab a few years ago. I remember sitting in my first physical therapy session in pain and feeling hopeless, thinking, "someone should make a video or write a book featuring people who have gone through this and gotten better... because I don't feel like I'm ever going to be able to." Steve Ludwig did write that book, but for heart patients, showing those who have to have bypass surgery that they can and will get through the experience... With a little humor!
I also got a copy for my great uncle, an 87-year-old priest who had a quintuple bypass a few years ago and who is now fully recovered.
