Cameron Delaney Tyson's just an ordinary guy, living an ordinary life, trying to sort out his issues along the way - or that's what he keeps trying to tell himself, that is. He doesn't believe in the supernatural, thinks dreams are just daily recycling, and lives in the here and now. My first venture into the world of paranormal turned out to be fascinating and pleasantly satisfying.
“The Wicked Beginning” is a gripping read that pulls you right in and keeps you going from chapter to chapter, captivated and on edge.
The story of Cam and Cheerie develops with breathtaking speed, taking all sorts of unexpected turns as it goes. It balances gracefully the line of the reality, as we know it, and the paranormal elements in it, up to the point that it makes the reader to accept the paranormal as an adequate and a completely daily business (I’m a good example, staying safely away from anything religious or spiritual).

The love line of this story is delightful, erotic and beautiful, absolutely believable, paranormal or not.
Cam and Cheerie had my heart from the very beginning, while the other characters kept pouring in, catching my sympathy (and more!) with an ease of real-life, likeable people. There is nothing phoney in this story. Everything is so realistic, so real. While reading, I kept feeling as if being there, surrounded by people I might meet everyday (as for the paranormal elements, who know what’s going on all around us?)

The other descriptions are breathtaking. I could just feel the rapids, and the woods and the nice Californian neighborhoods, with all the life gushing around, paranormal or not.

The funny thing, I picked this book first, not knowing that it’s a second book in the series. Half way through the book, I accidentally stumbled on that fact, otherwise I would never have noticed.
So, if you ask me, “The Wicked Beginning” can be read independently of the first book.

Yet, now I can’t wait to pick the other one.

Calinda B sends us back to the great Pacific Northwest to rejoin Cherie, Kayden, and Cam on their journey of discovery. Their paths have intertwined throughout time and space and while Cam and Kayden tolerate each other, they are equally important to Cherie.
This book delves deeper into Cam’s journey. He lived through a tortuous childhood with an abusive father. His constant reminder of what he doesn’t want to be keeps him from embracing his role in Cherie’s life.
His past haunts him and keeps him grounded, unable to see his own personal growth beyond what he doesn’t want to become. His journey and lessons impart wisdom that everyone can glean a life lesson or two that will enrich your own life.
Cherie and Kayden can’t do much to help Cam on his journey of self discovery and the realization that Cam could not make it through sends Cherie in her own tail spin.
A Wicked Beginning is definitely a sensuous story of awakening, self discovery, and self acceptance. The twists and turns hold the reader’s attention and I was so sad that this part of their story has come to an end. I can’t wait to see what is next in the third book of the Wicked Series by Calinda B.

The second book in the "Wicked" series continues the story of Cheri, Cam and Kayden with much more character development. Throw in some bad guys (Angela, Jill and Marilyn) and some good guys (Mano, Zuri, Jayze, Natalie and Lightening Rod) and some amazing animal companions and you have an emotional roller coaster. I experienced all of the characters' ups and downs with them and they have become like family to me. I can't wait to read the third book in the series (Whispering) and see where Calinda B takes me.
