Through the help of this book I learned the fundamental basics of what it takes to write a research paper at college level. I used this guide when I was in freshman year of high school, although it's old, it did make me a better writer. My teachers were impressed with the caliber of work I provided and encouraged me to move forward. It's a good beginning for anyone who wants to learn how to write properly and actually understand where all of the literary rules come from.

I picked this up a while ago and finally got around to it. it is a very no-nonsense guide with a sample research paper at the end. It covers everything and does so succinctly. The front is about the old-fashioned card catalog, but before you dismiss that, digital cards follow that format so it is important to know how to read it and learn to use the tracings.

Next it tackles the importance of a bibliography and how everything annotated should refer to one. This was a good reminder for me as I do not do that, and as I can't always remember -- something they note very aptly -- what your sources are you have only anecdotes. They like index cards, I remember that method mentioned in grade school -- I cannot say I ever used it but upon reflection I think that is a mistake.

No grammar rules. Just how to write a term paper or essay. I like it.
