Story of surviving day by day when a mother in law breaks a family up. The result leads to seeking employment in an employment starved Leicester. An unpleasant doctor comes into the plot who has secrets from the past he is trying to keep hidden. Includes a bit of rich meets poor and how romance can mix the two, i en joyed it.

I got this book in a book sale we had at work, it's not the type of book I'd usually read but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Normally I would be put off by the long chapters but I couldn't put it down.

It was a hard-knock life for everyone during the Depression, but this family just can't seem to catch a break.

This is a book set in the 1930's about a family staying together after the death of their beloved mother. With an elderly grandmother to care for as well as her brother and sisters Aida Nelson tries to keep the family together by making ends meet.
It is a story of courage, strength and determination. It reminds me of my mother's struggles as a single mum.
