This book attacks every excuse we can come up with for not forgiving others. Rick Renner uses the Bible and shows us how we can do this and yes it is possible. The way to a freed soul is to let these bitter burdens go. We aren't just told we need to forgive, we are shown in this book how we can.
At times it was really good, but much of it is very heavy-handed. God is portrayed as someone who expects perfection or he will bring down the gavel on us. There's way too much responsibility put on the reader. The devil is portrayed as if he is a stronger than God since a lot more is said about him than the Holy Spirit. The sovereignty and power of God is there but seems so weak that we mere humans can stop him. And Satan is so powerful he can destroy our relationships and...God can do nothing? I am wary of anything that puts it all on our own shoulders or makes God weaker than the devil. But it did remind me of the way Satan lies, and I needed that, so I'm glad I read it anyway. It's just a shame because I think I would've been a lot more receptive had the information been given with more emphasis on God's redemptive power.
I was going to give this 3 stars but much that would be beneficial here is dependent on right theology and Greek translations and interpretations — which all seemed to be a huge stretch — so I'm not sure how much is left to glean from it. The first few chapters are probably enough to get the gist. They're actually quite redemptive and encouraging. I'm not sure what happened with the rest.
I just really didn't agree with the overall condemning way it's written.
Wow! This book is a keeper. I needed this book so much right now for what's going on in my life. Thank you, God, for Rick Renner ministry giving this book as a free Kindle book. It has truly been a blessing. We're all going to get offended, have bitterness or resentment, but it's our part to not let it get rooted or to become a stronghold. I highly recommend this book for every Christian.
