Excellent personal memoir that provides an engineer-level view of the ERA-UNIVAC-CDC-Cray lineage of computer companies centered around Minneapolis and St. Paul from the 50s to the mid 80s. The “war stories” are entertaining and the author does an excellent job identifying some ideas as to why some technical teams succeed and others fail in a large corporation.

Amazon 2008-10-13, referenced from this page -- I was looking up Seymour Cray quotes, as I've recently added a coworker with a Cray Research pedigree! Hot shit, w00t! Supercomputing ahoy!
