পি.সি দাশ!পি.সি দাশ!পি.সি দাশ!

যেইদিন থেকে আমি আমার জেলা শহরে কিছু স্বনামধন্য ইংরেজি শিক্ষকদের কাছে 'ইংরেজি' ব্যাচে পড়তে যাওয়া শুরু করি,ঠিক সেই দিন থেকেই আমি এই একজনেরই নামকীর্তন শ্রবণ করেছি- পি.সি দাশ!
ব্যাপারটা আমি প্রারম্ভে ঠিক বুঝতে না পারলেও পরে জানতে পারি ওনার স্বরচিত অ্যাকাডেমিক বইয়ের তুমুল জনপ্রিয়তার কথা ৷এরপর ধীরে ধীরে আমার কাছে সমস্ত ধোঁয়াশা পরিষ্কার হতে শুরু করে......

তারপরও আমি ঠিক বুঝতে পারলাম না,কেন তাঁর এতো সুনাম এবং আকাশছোঁয়া জনপ্রিয়তা?বিষয়টা পরখ করার জন্য আমি স্বয়ং তাঁর লেখা কোন বই কিনে অধ্যয়ন করার সিদ্ধান্ত নিই......

তবে শিক্ষকবৃন্দরাই বেশ কিছুদিন আগে থেকেই পি.সি দাশের এই গ্রামার বই কেনার সুপারিশ করেন৷তাই আমার এক ঢিলে দুই পাখি খতম!

আমি মহা উৎসাহে একদম আদাজল খেয়ে বইখানা পড়া শুরু করি......এরপর?এরপর আমার মনে কোন সন্দেহ রইল না৷

বইটা এককথায় চমৎকার,আধুনিক ও যুগোপযোগী৷আমি এ পর্যন্ত যতগুলো ইংরেজি গ্রামার বই দেখেছি বা পড়েছি, এই বইটা তাদের চেয়ে সম্পূর্ণ ভিন্ন এবং স্বাতন্ত্র্য৷
বইটি যদিও পি.সি দাশ সাহেবের লেখা,কিন্তু এখানে নেসফিল্ড,রেন এ্যান্ড মার্টিন, জন ইস্টউড,থমসন এ্যান্ড মার্টিনেট,প্রমুখ ভাষাবিদ,ব্যাকারণবিশারদ ব্যক্তিত্বদের বৃহৎ অবদান এবং গভীর অনুপ্রেরণা জড়িয়ে রয়েছে,যা স্বয়ং লেখক এখানে সংযুক্ত করেছেন৷

এর প্রতিটি চ্যাপ্টার দারুনভাবে সাজানো;টপিকের গুরুত্বপূর্ণ বা কনফিউসিং পার্টে নোট দেওয়া হয়েছে,এর পাশাপাশি লেখক অন্যান্য বইগুলোর মতো সংজ্ঞা আর এক্সাম্পল দিয়ে খালাস হয়ে যাননি,বরং টপিকের গভীরে অবগাহন করেছেন,স্বতঃস্ফূর্তভাবে আলোচনা করেছেন,নিজস্ব মতামত প্রকাশ করেছেন এবং ক্রমবর্ধমান আধুনিক ইংরেজি ব্যাকারণকে সাদরে গ্রহন করেছেন৷এই বইয়ের 'অ্যাপ্লাইড সেকশন' আমার অন্যতম প্রিয় অংশ,পড়ে মনে হয়-আমি কোন নির্দিষ্ট টপিকের উপর 'স্পেশাল ক্লাস' করছি!

এই বইয়ের সবচেয়ে ইতিবাচক বিষয় হলো, এখানে যে সমস্ত ভাষাবিদ,ব্যাকরণবিদ,লেখক এবং বইয়ের সাহায্য ও তথ্যসূত্র ব্যবহার করা হয়েছে,তা শুধুমাত্র বইয়ের এককোণে লিখে রাখেননি,সেইসাথে সেই সমস্ত ব্যক্তি বা বইয়ের উদ্ধৃতি বা উক্তি সরাসরি নামসহ প্রত্যেক চ্যাপ্টারে স্পষ্টভাবে উল্লেখ করেছেন ( যা সচরাচর দেখা যায় না ),যা অত্যন্ত প্রশংসনীয় এবং দুঃসাহসিক কাজ!

তাছাড়া বইয়ের লেখনী খুব প্রাঞ্জল এবং শিক্ষার্থী উপযোগী, আর সহজবোধ্যও৷

যদিও বইয়ের কিছু কিছু জায়গায় ছোট-খাটো ভুলভ্রান্তি চোখে পড়েছে,তবে সেই ভুলভ্রান্তিগুলো পরবর্তী মুদ্রণে বা সংস্করণে সংশোধন করার চেষ্টা অব্যাহত রয়েছে ( আর আরো উন্নত এবং পরিমার্জিত হচ্ছে )৷

সবমিলিয়ে অভিজ্ঞতা অসাধারন!
