This audiobook / recording of a live seminar is so full of useful actionable wisdom. A listener could just take one or two items away from it and very noticeably improve his or her own life. As with all self-help books and programs, you have to work on actually implementing the suggested new strategies. Just listening or reading will not help. One of the core messages of this program is "hold yourself to a higher standard!". This isn't advise for someone who likes to lean back and have the successes of life handed to them or for a person who approaches life with a sense of entitlement. However, anybody who is willing to roll up their sleeves and make things happen will be able to use at least some of the advice from this audiobook.
You become like those you spend time with. You live up to their expectations of you.
Incantations versus affirmations.
When we repeat things about our conditions, we believe them.
Fear is our biggest self-limiter. So often when we say that we're stressed, we're actually filled with fear of failure.
The story of the two performers: one got on stage and got a rapid heartbeat, flushed, tingly, and said they know they're having a panic attack. The other had the exact same feelings, and told themselves they're ready to perform at their best.
There are three beliefs to have lasting change: 1. It must change. (Not should) "I should go on a diet"? No! 2. I must change it. 3. I can change it.
The past does not equal the future.
All beliefs carry with them consequences.
Change is never a matter of ability. It is a matter of motivation. This can be done by looking forward to the benefits of the change, and by dreading the consequences of not changing.
Momentum comes with action. It's all about starting.
Rapport is power. How do you develop rapport? By caring. Rapport is created by a feeling of commonality. Words don't always work for this, but matching and mirroring always does. Volume tonality speed.
A strategy is a specific way of organizing your resources.
All human behavior is belief-driven. Your beliefs and your values control your entire life. These are what control your decisions.
Values are the emotional states that you believe are the most important to feel or avoid. Pain and pleasure.
My two cents. Everybody ought to listen to at least one Tony Robbins book. He's so positive. My pastor talks about how the people who regularly tied love hearing about tithe. Those who don't scorn these talks and get offended. I feel the same way about Tony Robbins. When you're positive, energized, when you believe in yourself, you love hearing this stuff. When you're sitting on the other side, your tendency is to look at Tony Robbins and write it all off as a bunch of self-motivational garbage. It becomes whatever you believe it will become!
Very motivational and empowering. But do not passively read or listen to this. Actually implement it into your life or you will gain nothing.
Summary: Hold yourself to a higher standard. Expect more from yourself than anyone could possibly expect. Be friends with like-minded people as you will raise yourself and they will also raise you up.
Change your physiology and change your state. Adopt the physiology eg body posture, facial expression, tone of voice, as the state you want.
Make what you want a MUST not a should. Should’s usually don’t get done until it becomes a MUST.
You have all the things you need to be excellent. You do not need a new job or new partner or new job bonus. Start now.
Small changes change the whole trajectory of your life.
Pain and pleasure is what we think is pain and pleasure. What we expect is painful will be painful; what we expect is pleasurable will be pleasurable. So either change your perception or link pain to what you don’t want and pleasure to what you want.
We all have human needs. Certainty, feeling significant, connection. How are you meeting your needs? In empowering or harmful ways?
Our beliefs guide what we do. But not all our beliefs are true.
Strategies are a way of doing things. Most of us go through life with good and bad strategies, and we execute them unconsciously. Strategies for finding love, for getting a new promotion, for what we do when we get uncomfortable. Strategies is the recipe for what we do to our resources (eg money, time) to get what we want (eg more money, more time, love, happiness). Are your strategies effective? Copy people who have effective strategies to get what they want.
I have actually completed this program thrice. This is dated and probably made in the late 90s. But it is good to reinforce some of the concepts already learnt.
The content itself isn't very detailed. There were some parts from the 3rd hour to 5.5 hour which I find long-winded (talks about needs and visual/auditory/kinaesthetic stuff which most people should know now). But the rest of the content were good supplement to his other works.

Good ol’ Tony Robbins. I listened to him a lot 10 years back when I started with audio-books, and I must admit that he is still one of the greatest. Great motivational stories to hook the advice deep within us - and on the other had a lot of practical bullet lists for the people who want more action-oriented content. I liked the art of building rapport with other people, he gave so many dimensions to do it. So you can match some patterns of one person while on the same time matching other people too (e.g. business meeting with 3 people). And all advice comes from good will and to change the world for the better.
Tony Robbins is legit. I am convinced that he in the real deal and he's not some new age quack. He consolidates a lot of obvious psychological principles into easily digestible form. If you are willing to follow what he says (don't take it as gospel) it will work.
This was an tape of one of his lectures and I will not count it towards my book count. I will just increase my book challenge by one.
Excellent to help you find strategies to improve your life. After reading this book I came out with the understanding of finding good strategies
The book is packed with lots of information about communication. As there was soo much I'm not sure if I'd get everything out the book without re-reading it a few times. Sometimes when you have too much to implement find I can end up implementing nothing
This is probably one of the best motivational books I've listened to in a while. You need to read it more than once and please have a pen and paper in your hand as there are lots of notes you would love to keep. Mr Robbins has provided an entire plan of action in this program, practical and doable. I really love it and highly recommend it.
Listened on audible and it was great for some quick and easy reminders to stay on track. Key takeaways were to get yourself into the right state first before you try to achieve anything and to find your passions to stay motivated
This “audiobook” is a recording from one of Tony’s seminars — some of the examples are a bit dated and hokey as it’s from the mid 90s, but the life advice is time tested and actionable. His ability to convey the connection between physiological and emotional is profound. Must listen!
I love Tony Robbins and have been wanting to read his books for a while. I think his stage performance brings this information across much better but still a great read.
Essentially a covert lesson in neurolinguistic programming mixed with some motivational content and self promotion. The second half of the book was less impressive and more self promoting.
