Her best friend is a werewolf. Her boyfriend is a ghoul. And she really, REALLY can’t stand her vampire husband.
Trying to juggle college tuition and rent, young Audra Perez seeks a fast fix to her financial woes by auditioning as a stripper for the Hoochie Coochie Club. What she didn’t expect was to actually be chosen! Barely a few months into her new job, she becomes acquainted with a mysterious, distinguished gentleman by the name of Darren Von Eldon, and they secretly begin dating against club rules. Then one passionate night at his beach house changes Audra’s life forever.
Now as a newly-awakened vampire, this only adds to her day-to-day mundane burdens. Refusing to drain humans, she hunts birds for nourishment, and finagles a way to avoid going to classes during the day. But bigger problems loom ahead. Radical cops that know about her kind roam the night, seeking to destroy any and all ‘monsters’, and her best friend’s family has a bone to pick with Audra’s. Headless bodies are turning up on vamp and were turf, each side blaming the other for the murders. It’s up to Audra and her friend Lu to figure out who’s doing the killings, and their search leads them beneath the city streets to encounter an abomination neither one of them will ever forget.
And the relationship issues? Well, it’s not easy dealing with a boyfriend and a vampire husband, so let’s not even go there…
****The author provided me with a copy of this book for my honest review**** When I started reading this book, all I knew was the name was killer and it had to read it. Much like when I saw the titles of movies Strippers vs Zombies and Zombie Strippers or last but not least Lesbian Vampire Killers, that I had to see those movies. How can you resist a title like that? Quite simply, you can't, or well, I can't :) Audra is a stripper, or a stripper by default. She really has no clue but the owner of the Hoochie Coochie Club (yup, another winning name) takes pity on her and lets her take pole dancing lessons during the day if she will be a waitress by night. She is seduced by an older gentlemen client, who in one night changes her life forever, then up and leaves her to deal with it on her own. What I loved about this book was it was outrageous and funny. Audra was a snarky, sarcastic character who just got on with her life. She never ever made a decision that I thought she would make, so there were just surprises popping up left right and centre. Sometimes the storyline went down paths that I would term ridiculous, but they were dealt with such humour that I found myself enjoying them despite myself. The secondary characters in this story Lu, aka HC (I will let you find out what that means for yourself) Audra's boyfriend Paul and many others are like nothing you have ever seen before in a book. In fact this book is like nothing I have ever read before, but I sure loved reading it. Although there were a few grammatical errors in this book, I found I could ignore them and that they didn't phase my level of enjoyment. I am definitely looking forward to seeing what other wacky situations Audra can get herself into and out of in the next instalment of this series. If you like humour in your books and are sick of the angst and "real life" stories, give Diary of a Vampire Stripper ago, it is a riot.
All I can say is...Wow. This was a really amazing read, exceeded my expectations twice over. The originality of this is just brilliant and it sucked me in right from the start, I couldn’t stop reading and I didn’t want to stop! I loved the way it was written; it flowed so well and there wasn’t any useless scenes or unwanted information being thrown at you.
There is some great humour right from the start with this book and throughout the read itself. The “Crotch-Tarantula” moment made me laugh so much. This had the perfect amount of steamy scenes in it; nothing can ruin a book faster than too much steam and not enough story. The Audra and Paul situation I was both expecting at all, how they came together and it worked out, even though at the end now things are rather complicated and I am interested to see what happens in the nest installment between the two of them. Darren started off so seemingly nice and gentlemanly but his true colours certainly showed through by the end, I hope Audra finds a way out of her ties with him, he is nothing but bad news. I just really enjoyed reading this book, it’s one of those reads that instantly captures you and leaves you wanting more, at least that is what it did for me. I can’t wait to see what happens next!
When I received an email from the author of Diary of a Vampire Stripper asking me if I would be interested in reviewing her book, I was very curious. I didn't have a clue what to expect though I did read what the book was about before accepting. Diary of a Vampire Stripper is so different and original and just plain fun to read.
Audra, or Claudia (as she's referred to by her stripper name in the beginning), is your average 27 year old woman just trying to pay for college and pay her rent. She lands a job as a stripper despite not being very good at it. That's when she meets Darren Von Eldon, a man she notices has been coming by the club daily just to watch her. What she isn't aware of, at first, is that Darren is a vampire. During a weekend away together, Darren changes her into a vampire, unbeknownst to her. Once she realizes what's happened, Darren up and leaves her high and dry with only a note telling her that he will return. After that, she ends up meeting Paul, another guy who seems to visit the club just to watch her. They begin a relationship because it's been months since Darren left, and Audra isn't even sure that Darren will ever return. Audra also befriends Lucinda, one of the other woman who works at the club.
Audra does her best to hide the fact that she's a vampire from everyone, and certain things about Lucinda makes Audra think that she might just be a vampire too. As for Lucinda, she knows that there is something different about Audra, but vampire wasn't what she initially thought. Lucinda thought Audra was like her ... a werewolf. Once they know each others secrets, Lucinda clues Audra in to the fact that vampires and werewolves are generally enemies, and although the two of them are best friends, their respective clans don't really get along well. Plus, there is a string of murders occurring that Lucinda's family believes is being perpetrated by the vampires.
This story is so real and, at times, blunt! Now, the thought of creating a character that is flatulent might seem unusual, unless it's a very minor character that is hardly a blip on the radar, but in this book, it's one of the main characters. And oddly enough, he becomes a very endearing character. My initial reaction was to laugh because it was so unexpected, but at the same time, it's realistic. That happens, you know. As strange as it sounds, I liked that this particular character wasn't perfect. I liked that he had an embarrassing flaw, yet you just can't help but fall in love with him.
At the beginning, I was a little iffy about whether or not I would like the character of Audra because of the mean things that she thought about Lucinda before she even had the chance to know her. But Audra is a cool character and I was really glad that she became friends with Lucinda. Although Lucinda's family, particularly her grandfather, doesn't like or trust vampires, the two work together to try to figure out who is murdering people before a war between vampires and werewolves erupts. Not to mention, they have to fight off a group of cops hell bent on destroying them all.
I could probably just go on and on about this book, but then I'd end up telling you the whole story, and I don't want to do that! I say you should read it for yourself. If you are a fan of paranormal romances with a touch of mystery and a lot of fun, then I recommend Diary of a Vampire Stripper! My only complaint was that I felt that the way it ended was abrupt. There was so much more to the story, and I wasn't expecting it to end where it did. Thankfully, Diary of a Vampire Stripper: Choices, book two in the series, will be released later this year.
NOTE: I received a ebook copy of Diary of a Vampire Stripper from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Audra takes a job at a local strip club to pick up survival cash to get her through college, dancing under the stage name “Claudia,” inspired by Anne Rice’s Interview With A Vampire. Although the Hoochie Coochie Club’s rules concerning relationships with patrons are fairly rigid, the owner, Cal, doesn’t mind his girls bending or breaking them for the sake of his better-heeled customers. One of these is Darren, a man nearly three times Audra’s age and someone who keeps very strange hours — like from dusk to dawn. One night Darren bites Audra and vanishes, leaving a note protesting his undying affection but no real explanation as to why he left her to fend for herself. Soon Audra is forced to confront the fact an ordinary life is now hopelessly beyond her reach and rebels by trying to assert a normal relationship with yet another club patron, this one a college kid with some rather serious digestive problems. As her life spins further out of control, she realizes just how far over her head she is and that all the “fairy-tale creatures” she once laughed at have a terrifying and bloody reality all their own. As things progress from bad to worse, Audra finds herself straddling an uneasy alliance between the undead and their natural enemies, werewolves. Darren returns and tries to claim his blood-wife, only to learn she has committed one of the few truly unforgivable sins in the vampire world by giving her heart to a lowly human. The vampires and werewolves tremble on the brink of war, exacerbated by the presence of an uncomfortably high ratio of decapitated corpses flopping around on supernatural territory. The title says it all about what to expect from this book. It reads like a B- movie set to paper, with all the worst clichés and tropes of the modern monster movie firmly in place. Audra moves from creep to loser to jerk to creep in an endless cycle that is intended to elicit sympathy, but more often only triggers annoyance. She vacillates between self-pity and “I am Woman, hear me roar!” with dizzying speed, and more often than not comes off simply bitchy when she’s aiming for lovable snark. Some of the plot twists defy logic, while others are so obvious the reader may have to quell the urge to throttle some sense into Audra. One key plot point is never satisfactorily resolved, relying on a villain so comic-bookish he all but vanishes under the weight of his own caricature. And the jokes about unusually hairy female genitalia and guys with bad gas drag on long after they stop being funny, even from a guy’s perspective. On the upside, people whose sense of humor runs to The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Bubba-Hotep should find a lot to enjoy in this book. J.S. - See more at: http://www.coffeetimeromance.com/Book...
I didn't really know quite what to expect from this book cover, I initially thought it could possibly be a bit bloodthirsty and perhaps very gory but it isn't like that at all. Having said that I do quite like the cover. Obviously this is a vampire genre book, the title tells you that but what it doesn't tell you is it is so much more. The style of the book is a kind of the diary of Audra. I try not to give spoilers in my reviews but will mention things that are already mentioned in the blurb, so here goes... Audra is short of cash and basically getting desperate so ends up at a strip club looking for work. Audra has to choose an alter ego as you don't want the type of guy that goes to a strip joint to know your real name. So Audra chooses Claudia I'll leave you to read the explanation of why in the book! The book is Audra's story, she is turned into a vampire though she is never asked if she wishes to be. the book tells of Audra coping with being a new vampire, and her learning about other races such as weres. Audra also has to quickly learn about Vampire and Were politics. Audra joins forces with a fellow stripper Lu, to try and solve the murders that the vamps and were are blaming on each other before an all out war is started. Do they suceed I hear you ask? You'll have to read the book. There's humour, suspense, murder, a bit of gore, danger and some romance too in this story. As if an impending Were/Vamp war was not enough danger there is also a group who want to kill all supernatural beings to contend with. *WARNING there are sexual explicit scenes in this book that are not suitable for young teens, the scenes are very descriptive* So having said that it is not my usual type of book, I tend to steer away from the sexually explicit scene books, as I find it spoils the overall book. This book was not totally spoiled by it, the scenes were done as a natural part of the story. I would say it would not be classed as erotic. I don't read erotic by choice. So did I enjoy the book? Yes Would I recommend? Yes to adult fans of Mary Janice Davidson, and Dakota Cassidy fans perhaps. Would I read more in this series? Yes I would I want to know what happens to Paul (you'll get what I mean when you read the book) and of course there's plenty more scope for the story too. So YES! Would I read more by Cinsearae Santiago? I think I would Yes!
Today's review is on Diary of a Vampire Stripper by Cinsearae Santiago
Diary of a Vampire Stripper is a fun and snarky take on today's hottest paranormals, Vampires and Werewolves. And though it still has elements we all know and love; love triangles, battles between the two clans, I can assure you that it is nothing like anything that you have read before.
Audra Perez is a no-holds-barred kind of girl who knows B.S. when she hears it, and doesn't tolerate it. So finding a job to pay for her college education was on the top of her to do list. But even she didn't know she would get a job working as a stripper at the Hoochie Coochie Club. Hell, she didn't know how "miss hairy crotch" got a job there either, but it was what it was.
Audra's always had an affinity for older men, so when the handsome and distinguished Darren Von Eldon sweep's her off of her feet she doesn't hesitate to date him. (even if it is against the rules) But unknown to her, Darren is actually a vampire. And after a night of wining and dining, he turns her and then he vanishes.
Left alone to fend for herself isn't an easy task, what with getting enough bird's to drink from, getting caught up with a ring of radical cops hell-bent on killing Vampires and Werewolves, and stopping a huge war from happening between the two groups of supernaturals. But when Darren comes back into her life, things just go from bad to worse.
I loved Audra's spit and fire and gave her credit for not falling apart during different times in the book. And because I too have an affinity for older men, I must say that I also fell in love with Darren. I think the only character I didn't fall in love with is Paul. (You'll just have to read the book to find out why)
Snarky and funny with strong female characters......who wouldn't love that?! I can't wait for the next installment to come out this winter!
"This novel is hilarious. The love scenes are beyond scorching, and the tender moments are enough to make the hardest heart sigh. When reading Diary of a Vampire Stripper, I had many moments of laugh out loud hilarity, and more than a few tense, nail-biting moments. The story flows very well together, and the characters are wholly enchanting. I had so much fun reading this novel that I am finding it difficult to wait for the next installment! This is a rocking, fast paced, uproarious story that will leave audiences laughing hysterically and still totally heart warmed. For anyone who loves vampires and weres, and some seriously complex issues, this is the novel for you.
Audra is in way over her pretty little head. She is flat broke, and trying to juggle college and rent and find a job, and it’s not going well. Well, at least not until an interview at a local strip club. She does not expect to be given a job and is shocked beyond belief when she is accepted to become a stripper. And that’s where the fun begins. Bring in the addition of Darren, a gorgeous older vampire, Lucinda, a were, and a few other assorted characters, and Audra’s world takes a dramatic turn, often for the worse. After a romantic weekend away with Darren, things definitely change when Audra wakes up a vampire! Toss in a series of murders, vengeful cops bent on destroying the entire paranormal society in the area, and a lovesick flame named Paul, and you get this novel. What is a girl to do? Trust in her new vampire abilities, and a fantastic were best friend and hope for the best."
This is a fun, sexy book, an original and entertaining take on paranormal romance which is almost threatening to deluge us these days. Audra needs a job so she can pay her way through college. She ends up as a stripper at the Hoochie Coochie Club. If that’s not bad enough, it’s not long before a mysterious client turns her into a vampire. Now she sleeps all day, has a new Goth look and a need for pigeon blood. Her best friend turns out to be a werewolf, and Audra faces having to fight her and her clan as the ‘bloodsuckers’ face off with the ‘weres’. That’s not the only major confrontation that comes Audra’s way. She has to deal with radical cops who are out to kill all vampires, and eventually her vampire husband turns up again after a long absence and takes against her dopey, harmless, and unfortunately flatulent boyfriend Paul. This is such a well written book. It’s gritty and modern, with plenty of swearing, but there are soft edges. Tough, feisty Audra truly falls in love with a nice, innocent guy. She’s a good person underneath her sometimes coarse veneer. This is not just another vampire book. It works all the better for not taking itself too seriously. However, there’s tension, passion, out and out lust and there’s a lot humanity in all these various monsters. There are more books to come in the series, which has got off to a gripping start in this entertaining novel. There are some steamy sex scenes so it’s an adult read.
Plain-spoken and brash, Diary of a Vampire Stripper is a graphically wild lunge through the trials and tribulations—both amorous and otherwise—of newly-turned vampire Audra as she sets the paranormal world on its ear. It’s erotic, paranormal, and full of laughs, and a little bat told me it’s the first of a series.
Diary of a vampire Stripper is available from www.lulu.com/gratistavampires This novel was supplied by the author and no remuneration was involved in the writing of this review.
This was a comical Urban Fantasy. The main character Audra is a "takes no crap" kind of girl who is hard to not like. Her attitude about everything and the way she deals with certain situations is sure to have you laughing out loud. There were a few moments in the book, that spoke of gross bodily functions, that were less than desirable to me but it was mostly subdued to one fairly small section of the book and once past that point it became enjoyable to me again.
Okay, I won’t tell you not to laugh, when I first saw the title, I gave a hearty chuckle, and was instantly reminded of Jenna Jameson’s Zombie Strippers! Which I recommend if you have a love of REALLY Bad films. All in all, this tale is full of interesting twists, fun descriptions and erotic romps. I am all a flutter to see where Miss Audra ends up next.Completely worth sitting down and laughing you butt of through!
I finished this book several days ago and had to let myself think before I wrote anything. Truthfully I am still not sure what to say! It is different and as much as I really disliked the love interests in this book, the other stuff made me keep reading. So different from most paranormal books I have read. I enjoyed it a lot actually. Not a 5 star read but a solid 3.5
I won this book off of the goodreads giveaway and absolutely loved it! At first it had me thinking it sounded a bit like twilight, but then it shocked me to find out it was nothing like that. I'm sad that the book is over because I just didn't want to put it down. There were a few spelling errors but none that were too bad like a spot that was talking about Darren and it said her.
